Drayton Valley residents are invited to celebrate the official opening of the Northern Lakes College Mobile Training Lab (MTL).
The town is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sept. 11, and everyone is welcome to attend. It will take place in the Public Works parking lot (6113 50 Avenue).
The MTL is a 50-foot training facility that expands into about 1,500 square feet of hands-on learning space. It features eight training workstations, tools and equipment for skilled trades training.
This September, Northern Lakes College is launching a pre-employment carpentry program through the lab, followed by an electrical program in the winter 2027 semester.
The town says the MTL gives students the opportunity to gain the technical knowledge and practical experience needed to pursue a career in the trades.
