Northern Lakes College is holding a career fair in Drayton Valley this month, and its Mobile Training Lab will be on display.
On June 29 from 12-2 p.m., youth can head to the Drayton Valley Community Education and Training Centre to meet with faculty and program specialists, connect with instructors and explore hands-on career opportunities.
The experience also features a welding simulator and free food truck vouchers.
Then, from 2:30-4 p.m., potential students can tour the Mobile Training Lab.
The lab is set up to deliver pre-employment carpentry programming in town beginning Sept. 1. It will be located at the Town of Drayton Valley Public Works site.
Northern Lakes College says the initiative is meant to provide students with hands-on training close to home, while addressing the growing demand for skilled trades professionals across the region.
The town and college are also exploring the possibility of offering electrical training in the winter term.
