September 24
2:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle with three males inside in the parking lot of a motel. Complainant suspected a drug transaction. Member attended, but the vehicle had left.
2:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant defrauded of about $200 after responding to a text claiming their cell phone bill was overdue. Complainant provided a credit card number and was later advised by his bank that someone attempted to charge $3,800 on the card. The card involved was cancelled.
2:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member assisted with apprehending a youth who was subject to a PCHAD (Protection of Children Abusing Drugs) Order. The youth was transported to a treatment facility by another agency.
9:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported aggressive behaviour by his foster child which resulted in the complainant being assaulted. Member attended and de-escalated the youth; complainant did not want charges. Member advised CFS of the incident.
September 25
4:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported an intoxicated male, who was not a guest, was refusing to leave the property. Prior to members attending, the male left.
7:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her vehicle broken into overnight; a booster pack and personal items were taken. Complainant named a possible suspect, but there is no corroborating evidence.
7:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone tried to steal his ATV off a trailer in the hotel parking lot where he is staying. Member attended and viewed surveillance which did not show a suspect. Minor damage to the ATV.
9:07 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being defrauded through an online bitcoin investment scam. Suspects are claiming her original $6,000 investment was now worth $11,000, but they wanted money to cover taxes prior to any withdrawal. Complainant’s bank had advised her it was a scam. These scams are common and due to the nature of bitcoin, it’s very unlikely police can locate or charge any suspects, and even more unlikely any money could be recovered.
10:41 a.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported that his 2017 grey Cam Am Outlander 1000 ATV had been stolen from his unlocked barn, sometime in the past four months. Complainant also reported that the key had been left with the ATV.
11:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that her stroller/wagon had been stolen from outside her apartment building. Stroller had been locked up but the lock was cut.
12:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a female passed out in a truck on a lease site. Member attended and found that the female was recently evicted and was sleeping at the location in her truck.
1:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – File opened to add a warrant for a male who failed to comply with his probation conditions.
September 26
10:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an intoxicated male sitting behind a hotel drinking and becoming aggressive. Members attended but the male had left. Patrols of the area were successful as the male was located a couple of blocks away. Checks found he had arrest warrants from another jurisdiction. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
11:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male causing a disturbance at a gas station. Apparently, he attempted to buy gas but there were issues with his card which resulted in him getting upset with staff. The male was not identified and left prior to police being able to attend.
12:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a care home reported that an elderly female resident was intoxicated and fell over in the dining room, pushing a table over with her. Paramedics had attended previously and declined to transport the female. Member attended and drove the female to the hospital to get checked.
4:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a location to assist paramedics with a deceased male. The death was not suspicious, though the medical examiner is investigating further.
6:34 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a family dispute caused by a family member driving a tractor on the complainant’s property while intoxicated. Under investigation.
9:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a female had shoplifted flashlights. Under investigation.
11:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a possible fight in the lounge of a hotel. On arrival, an intoxicated male was sent to his room as he was allegedly trying to instigate a fight. Members were called back as the male just couldn’t help himself and had to return and try again to find a willing combatant. The male was arrested and held in cells overnight to sober up.
September 27
7:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported fleeing domestic violence that occurred outside Canada; complainant requested a call back. Under investigation.
1:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported youth climbing on a digital billboard. Member patrolled the area but did not locate the youth involved.
2:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a possible break-in to her residence that occurred in the past couple of days. Complainant reported that nothing was missing, though a dog door was damaged and a door that had been closed, was now open. Member attended and found no evidence. Complainant checked video surveillance which also showed nothing of value to the investigation. Unclear if there had been a break-in or if something else occurred, such as animal involvement.
6:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aurora School – Complainant reported some youths were trying to break into the back of the school. Member attended and determined there had been no such attempt, though a ladder had been brought to the school and some kids had gone onto the roof. Member advised the youths to not do that again. Parents were notified.
9:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance with a male who had expressed suicidal thoughts and then walked away after being subject to a Form 1 apprehension order by a doctor. Members located the male at his residence and returned him to the hospital.
September 28
9:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Member assisted a Fish and Wildlife officer at a traffic stop as the driver of the vehicle made suicidal comments. The male was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to a designated mental health facility by the F&W officer.
3:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a company truck vandalized with graffiti. Occurred sometime overnight.
11:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her boyfriend was intoxicated and had assaulted her teenage son. Members attended and arrested the male, who was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently remanded in custody by a justice of the peace on charges of assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
September 29
12:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported receiving more than 50 calls from a female acquaintance who he believed was intoxicated and staying somewhere in the Edmonton area. Member advised the complainant to turn off his phone for the night. Under investigation.
2:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a male in the hotel room next to hers was yelling at someone. Member attended and determined that the known male was alone but having some mental health issues. The male was cooperative and agreed to stop yelling at the walls.
7:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member attended to deal with the male from the previous call who was again yelling in his room. Member spoke to the male who again agreed to stop yelling. A family member was spoken to who advised she was taking the male to a medical appointment in the afternoon which should help with the ongoing mental health issues. Three more calls were received until the family member attended and removed the male from the hotel.
1:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant reported that an intoxicated male who had been trespassed from the hospital for ongoing belligerent behaviour had driven off in a pickup truck. Members were able to locate the male at an apartment; the male provided two samples of his breath which both resulted in a “fail.” A provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and the pickup was impounded. Due to aggressive behaviour the male was lodged in cells to sober up away from the public. He was subsequently transported back to hospital by paramedics after he started complaining about chest pains; members suspected “acute incarceritis.”
4:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported third-hand information that students had shared intimate images. Under investigation.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Three complaints received regarding an intoxicated male in a grey Ford pickup. Members did not locate the truck at the time but did determine that the male had taken the truck without consent from his employer. Members learned the next day that the truck had been returned, though the male was now unemployed. Under investigation, charges of take motor vehicle without consent and driving while prohibited are pending.
September 30
8:14 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that a family member was dealing with some domestic violence from her spouse. Member investigated and a male was subsequently arrested and charged with assault and mischief. File remains under investigation.
10:37 p.m. – Tomahawk – Member attended a residence for a report of a disturbance and possible assault between family members. On arrival, member determined there had been no violence though there is a dispute over items being removed from the property. Under investigation.
2:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that an elderly male who previously owned the residence she is renting has been coming onto her property claiming it is still his. Under investigation.
9:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a family member of his ex is harassing him. Under investigation.
October 1
12:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a bar reported an intoxicated female trying to fight people. When members arrived, the female had left in a cab.
