Weyerhaeuser is investing $1 million in the Town of Drayton Valley to support projects designed to create meaningful and lasting benefits for the community.
The funding comes from the company’s Thrive program and represents its first investment in a Canadian community.
“We have a responsibility to our rural operating communities to help them remain great places to live, work and do business for generations to come, and we launched our Thrive program several years ago to amplify the positive impact and support we can provide locally,” says Devin W. Stockfish, Weyerhaeuser president and CEO. “We’re looking forward to working with community leaders in Drayton Valley to address priority needs and provide meaningful long-term benefits.”
Announced on Sept. 22, the funding will be distributed over several years.
The company says it will identify and prioritize local challenges requiring investment, collaboration and advocacy by engaging with community leaders in the coming weeks and months.

Weyerhaeuser has operated a sawmill in Drayton Valley for nearly 40 years and says it employs about 450 people through the sawmill and surrounding forestry operations.
Dodds and the Drayton Valley town council celebrated the announcement with Minister of Forestry and Parks Todd Loewen, Drayton Valley—Devon MLA and Minister of Tourism and Sport Andrew Boitchenko, Weyerhaeuser Mill Manager Matt Snow, Woodlands General Manager Jeff MacKay and Brazeau County Councillor Aria Harris yesterday.
