Lac Ste. Anne—Parkland MLA Shane Getson is in the U.S. this week to support trade and supply chain connections with North American partners.
In his role as parliamentary secretary for economic corridor development, Getson will attend the 2026 Ports-to-Plains Alliance Annual Conference in Del Rio, Texas, and Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. The government says Getson will join policymakers, transportation officials, industry leaders and economic development organizations from across North America to promote Alberta’s economic interests.
Officials say Getson will highlight progress made in Alberta to reduce internal trade barriers, strengthen supply chains and advance economic corridors.
“Alberta’s economic future depends on strong, safe and reliable supply chains that help us grow our strategic trading relationships,” comments Getson. “Ports-to-Plains provides an important platform to showcase Alberta’s leadership in economic corridor development, strengthen our partnerships in the U.S. and Mexico and promote new opportunities for connectivity that will reap benefits for generations of people living in Alberta and across North America.”
The conference is expected to bring together more than 200 policymakers, industry leaders and businesses from nine U.S. states: Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska and Wyoming.
This year’s conference theme is “Building the Future Interstate: Bridging from Designation to Delivery,” which will focus on interjurisdictional and binational transportation networks, freight mobility and investment attraction.

Itinerary for MLA Getson
- Sept. 7: Travel to Del Rio, Texas.
- Sept. 8: Speak at the 2026 Ports-to-Plains Alliance Annual Conference.
- Sept. 9: Travel to Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, for additional conference sessions and meetings.
- Sept. 10: Return to Alberta.
