August 20
11:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible breach of a court order regarding a historical incident that occurred out of province. Member investigated and determined there was insufficient evidence to charge in Alberta.
5:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a possibly homeless female sitting outside a hotel with lots of pill bottles. Member attended and found that the female had recent surgery and related medications and was at the location using an outlet to charge her phone. The female left when asked to.
7:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported a male riding a dirt bike on a walking path near Aurora School. Member unable to locate anyone on a dirt bike in the area.
10:18 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported someone from a nearby residence was ripping around on a quad. Member attended and found no quad or vehicles still at the neighbours’ residence.
11:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a family member was having a psychotic episode and was going to burn her own house down. Member attended and found the allegations were baseless and that the complainant had been drinking and struggling with some mental health issues. Prior to police arriving the complainant had been dropped off at a hotel for the night. Members located and spoke to the male at the hotel but did not have the required grounds to apprehend him under the Mental Health Act.
11:10 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported cables and propane tubing cut and removed at three different lease sites.
August 21
1:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a family member was at her residence intoxicated and causing a ruckus. Member attended and arrested the male who was held in cells until sober. Related to report received at 11:06 p.m. on August 20.
4:22 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested assistance with a male she had picked up on the Sunchild Road after finding him apparently stranded. Members met the complainant at the office and arranged for a shelter pod for the remainder of the night.
8:04 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested assistance to arrange an inspection that was required for a property involved in an estate; complainant stated he does not have a good relationship with the current occupant. Matter was civil but member assisted by liaising with both parties and their legal counsel.
1:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint that a male broke into the residence of a family member by damaging a window and then verbally confronted the occupant. Member attended and investigated; no damage to the window observed but the male was located nearby and arrested for a probation breach. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
3:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male had been loitering at a fast-food restaurant since 8:00 a.m. Member attended and determined it was the male dealt with at 4:22 a.m., and that he was waiting for his father to pick him up. Member contacted the father who was a half hour away; the unwanted male decided to walk to another location nearby to wait for his ride.
5:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her ex yelling and berating her during a child custody exchange. Member made some recommendations on ways to limit such contact as nothing criminal had occurred. Complainant called a second time reporting unwanted phone calls from her ex who was making comments suggesting further custody issues in the future. Member spoke to both and advised that if the behaviour continues it could result in charges.
8:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint that a male who appeared to be on drugs was yelling and disturbing people around a school park. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the male.
10:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male had allegedly breached conditions. Under investigation.
August 22
12:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Complainant reported a suspect was in the area going through vehicles, and that a male had been captured on doorbell camera closing her car door. Member determined the male on camera had been a neighbour closing the door when he saw it open. Car-shopping suspect not located, under investigation.
1:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Member on patrol was waved down by paramedics who were checking an intoxicated female on the lawn by a church. As the female did not need medical treatment, she was provided a ride home.
1:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – An intoxicated male approached firefighters who were at the fire hall and asked for assistance finding his girlfriend. Member attended and advised the male that his girlfriend had just been given a ride home by another officer. The male then ran home in a manner reminiscent of a scene in Forrest Gump (see previous file).
4:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Wallet with ID and cash turned in earlier in the evening while members were doing a bar walk. Owner has been contacted and will pick up the wallet.
7:04 a.m. – Brazeau County – North Saskatchewan River – Complainant reported that his canoe and contents had floated away from his camp when the river level rose overnight. Complainant advising police in case someone reports an abandoned canoe that might result in an unnecessary search and rescue effort.
2:28 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reported two possibly homeless people with a school bus parked at a lease site on private property and having a campfire. Member attended and told the owner of the bus to leave.
3:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance with a male who had been trespassed but was causing issues. The male was located outside the hospital and taken to another location.
August 23
12:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by her adult daughter. Members attended to investigate and found there were grounds for arrest. The complainant confirmed she wanted her daughter charged, but after an arrest was made, changed her mind. Members transported the daughter elsewhere for the night to prevent continuation.
2:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported a group entered after last call demanding drinks. The group became aggressive but were kicked out; the group then left in a black pickup. Members patrolled around town but did not locate the truck.
4:21 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her son had been assaulted earlier while attending a wedding after he tried to de-escalate a dispute. Member investigated but the victim later advised that the matter was resolved and he did not want anyone charged.
8:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male crawling around in front of her residence. Members attended and arrested the male who was held in cells to sober up.
11:26 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant called from out-of-town requesting members check on her spouse due to him making some concerning comments. Member attended and spoke to the male determining he was experiencing some life struggles but had supports and was not planning to harm himself.
1:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant called from another area requesting members check a residence to see if her grandson was there. Members checked the residence with negative results.
2:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported a suspicious female near the derricks wearing a leopard print bikini and swinging what appeared to be a camera around. Member did not attend due to other ongoing issues; no further calls received.
2:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol attempted to stop a youth on an electric dirt bike but the youth failed to stop and actively evaded police. Member investigated and was able to identify the rider who was located and arrested at his residence. Members decided to use discretion and issued an appropriate violation ticket.
3:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her ex was not being respectful of her desire for custody exchanges to occur at the RCMP detachment. Member spoke to both and an agreement was reached. Both parents were told to pursue a custody agreement.
4:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to attend for fingerprinting.
8:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his mother had been assaulted by his sister. Members attended a residence and after investigation, attempted to arrest the sister but she refused to come to the residence door. Members obtained a warrant to enter the residence and upon entering, the female was arrested without incident. She was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
9:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that a male who was brought in by EMS had a considerable quantity of illicit drugs with them. Member attended and seized the drugs. Under investigation.
August 24
7:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible fraud after she sent an e-transfer to a tattoo artist who is now refusing to do the work or return the money. Under investigation.
9:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear for fingerprinting as required.
10:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Complainant reported that his “Ampr’up” electric bike had been stolen from the area of the disc golf park the previous evening. Under investigation.
2:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an assault at a residence known to police. Members attended and determined a male was angry as some of his money was allegedly missing. No one was injured and no one present wanted charges against anyone else.
6:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members responded to a report of a male with a baton and that a domestic dispute may be occurring. After investigation it was determined there was no domestic, though several items observed in plain view were seized for destruction.
August 25
7:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a male sleeping at the entrance to a business. Member attended and identified the male who left the area as requested.
8:19 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported an employee’s car window had been smashed overnight while parked at a business.
1:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his parents’ garage, car and home had been entered and several items were missing. Member investigated and learned that the complainant’s elderly father was in hospital and that the only items missing were consistent with someone preparing documents prior to an expected death. No evidence to suspect someone entered illegally.
2:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being defrauded of about $5,000 from her bank account after receiving text messages. Under investigation.
4:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported dogs left in a vehicle. Matter dealt with by Drayton Valley Enforcement Services.
4:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – A youth complained that he was receiving threats and noticing bizarre behaviour from another youth. Member spoke to the suspects parent who was aware and had taken away a phone and was accessing other supports to deal with the troubling behaviour.
5:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant wished to discuss a possible breach of conditions by an ex. Member determined there were not grounds for a charge, and the complainant only wished to have the concern documented.
10:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol observed a motorcycle travelling south without lights on. Member attempted a traffic stop, but the rider fled through a ditch and continued south through ditches and a gas stating parking lot before skidding and falling at the intersection of Highway 22. Member arrested the male for flight from a peace officer. Further investigation found the male was prohibited from driving Canada-wide, had no license or insurance and that the motorcycle had been reported stolen in Wetaskiwin in June of 2022. The 40-year-old male was charged with flight from police, driving while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime and was issued several traffic tickets. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
August 26
9:48 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported solar panels stolen from a business yard on August 23. Under investigation.
10:40 a.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a window smashed on his camping trailer. No investigative avenues.
11:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported children on the roof of a shed at a daycare. Member attended and found no children still on the roof. Staff were unaware of the incident but will ensure the bike rack/stool will be secured elsewhere.
3:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported an acquaintance was in psychosis and had assaulted a family member. Members attended and arrested the male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The male was assessed at the hospital and then held overnight in cells. The following day the male was released with a court date related to the assault charge and subsequently transported to Ponoka Centennial Center for mental health concerns.
3:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member observed a vehicle parked in front of a liquor store with an unregistered plate. Member unable to confirm who was driving but had the vehicle towed due to it having no insurance or registration. A male associated to the vehicle was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving while disqualified.
9:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male suspect stole a 12-pack of alcoholic beverages. Member viewed video surveillance but was unable to identify the suspect. Staff advised they had spoken to a friend of the suspect who promised to come pay for his friends’ indiscretion. Complainant requested no further police involvement.
9:35 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported his daughter returned home to find her room ransacked and some items missing. Members attended and learned it was likely related to recent disputes between the daughter and her mother, who was to attend and collect her belongings. The daughter requested time to consider the situation. Under investigation.
August 27
12:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a bar reported an intoxicated male starting to be confrontational with staff and patrons. Complainant reported the male was trying to pick fights and had pushed a staff member. Members attended and arrested the male who was lodged in cells overnight to sober up.
