July 30
10:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported TVs in her eyes showing her things she doesn’t want to see.
10:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a local male had her trailer and suspected he may be taking it to the homeless encampment; she was concerned belongings in the trailer would go missing. Patrols were made but the trailer wasn’t located. Member called the male and determined there was some miscommunication; the male was returning the trailer to the complainant.
6:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a resident of a group home brought home an old handgun he had found. Member attended and retrieved the handgun, which turned out to be an old, broken pellet gun.
11:46 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being threatened by a family member of an ex. Under investigation.
July 31
8:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Northview Pond – Complainant reported a suspicious female on an ATV who had a short interaction with a male. Descriptors of the female and ATV were provided; ATV last seen headed west. Member patrolled and located the ATV and female. A traffic stop was attempted but the female fled on the ATV. Members subsequently located the ATV abandoned on a private property, attempts to locate the female were unsuccessful though the ATV was seized.
11:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a motel guest that was not leaving despite his stay had not been extended due to issues during his stay. Member attended and explained the situation to the male who was given some time to gather his belongings.
12:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female trespassing on a business property. Member attended and arrested the female who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The female was held in cells to sober up and subsequently transported to hospital by paramedics.
1:44 p.m. – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported a female with a stroller walking on RR 73 on the roadway instead of the adjacent paved pathway. Member patrolled the area but did not locate the female.
6:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Complainant reported that another youth pulled a knife, threatened him and used a racial slur. Member investigated and spoke to all youth and determined the two argued and decided to “fight it out”, a fight the complainant did not win. Member determined that no knife was involved nor were any threats made. Parents spoken to and the boys were told to avoid one another.
8:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported several people possibly consuming drugs near a hotel outbuilding. Members attended and found two people eating yogurt. No drugs were found, though the report was credible.
8:38 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a car driving erratically and then a verbal altercation between a male and female. Members attended and spoke to the male and female involved and determined they had argued but nothing criminal occurred. Members received conflicting information on who was driving the car.
9:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a former employee who had been living on company property had returned and broken a lock to enter an outbuilding to retrieve belongings. Member attended but the male had left. Members determined the following day that the male still had legal access; no offence occurred.
11:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his father was causing a disturbance and needed to be removed from their residence. Members attended and determined this request could not be enforced. Members spoke to all persons in the residence and explained the reasoning and provided some suggestions.
August 1
12:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported that a male was intoxicated at the bar, being verbally abusive to staff and refusing to leave. Members attended and determined the male had left on foot. A second call was received from the intoxicated male who said he was being discriminated against and removed from the bar. Members met with the male who was intoxicated and not likely the target of discrimination. The male was given a ride home by a sober friend.
12:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in keeping the peace while he obtained belongings from a property. Member spoke to both and determined that though they were unable to communicate civilly, police were not required.
12:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son was confronted about inappropriate communications online and had responded by running away from their residence without shoes. While members were enroute the complainant advised he had returned home, and a family discussion was being held. Police were not required.
1:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported hearing voices and noises in his residence and was concerned there was an intruder. Members attended and cleared the residence finding no intruders. Complaint was likely related to mental health issues, RPACT (rural police and crisis team) referral made.
3:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant again reported TVs in her eyes; this time put there by a female acquaintance. Members unable to solve the issues.
5:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported to a member on patrol that his bike had been stolen from his residence sometime during the week. Based on descriptions members recalled speaking to a suspect who had the bike the previous day. Members followed up with the suspect who claimed another acquaintance lent it to him. Members located the bike the following afternoon.
10:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported hearing yelling and screaming and believed a female was in distress in an adjacent motel room. Members attended; no disturbances heard, complaint a result of mental health issues.
10:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her electric tricycle stolen from her yard sometime over the previous night. E-trike described as orange, black seat and a black basket on the rear. Under investigation.
August 2
12:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that while getting gas he was approached by a female who asked that he call police as she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. Members spoke to the female who was under the influence of alcohol but stated she had been assaulted. Members then located the suspect who stated she was the aggressor and had assaulted him. Under investigation.
2:32 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Members responded to a crash notification and multiple reports of a vehicle in a field. On arrival the driver and only occupant was treated by paramedics for minor injuries; the 2023 Porsche was not as lucky and is likely a write off. The driver had been travelling east when she hit a bumpy section of highway near RR 72, lost control and came to rest in a field. A power pole and fence were damaged in the process.
2:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in retrieving belongings. Member assisted later in the day.
4:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that being assaulted by a family member after she declined to provide him with a ride. Members investigated and a male was located a couple days later; he was charged with assault and uttering threats, held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace with conditions.
8:23 p.m. – Drayton Valey – 45 St – Complainant reported two roommates were having a domestic dispute and that they had been arguing for several days off and on. Member attended and confirmed there had only been arguing and nothing criminal. Some suggestions were made on healthier ways to interact.
8:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a group of people fighting in a parking lot. Initial reports were that weapons may be involved and a second group in the area was also fighting. Members attended and determined that two brothers had been having a consensual fight, in part because one was intoxicated. No second group or weapons appear to have been a factor. All were told to go home.
9:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported two males fighting while walking up the street, with two black pickups following. Members attended and located one of the males from the previous call, being walked home by a friend. No fighting, though one had been quite loud. The trucks belonged to friends of the second male who were in the area to make sure all went well. No further calls received.
10:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to an SOS from an apple watch; a female could be heard moaning and sounded in distress. The residence was confirmed and members were able to enter through an unlocked rear door. EMS attended and transported an elderly female to hospital for assessment.
August 3
2:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that a male acquaintance was sending sounds to her left ear. Member was unable to locate the male in the area. Complainant is known to have mental health issues.
3:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that when she returned to an encampment, she was shoved and had water thrown on her by a male. Members attended and obtained a more credible version of events from an independent witness. No charges, see Aug. 2 at 12:45 p.m.
7:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on her daughter who was staying in a hotel with her stepmother. Apparently, the stepmom had been called to work and there may be childcare issues. The complainant’s mother was also on her way to pick the girl up. Member attended and found the girl alone and waiting for Grandma; member determined that the girl was old enough to wait on her own.
10:16 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported damage to a power panel at a lease site. Under investigation.
2:21 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported that a family member who has no ties to a property had been there the day before, with his truck hooked up to a trailer that was not his. Complainant also found items in the trailer that had gone missing. File open for followup but matters dealt with on subsequent reports.
3:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that overnight someone destroyed her lily bed, pulling out plants and leaving behind a vase with some buds in it. Complainant reporting for awareness only. Another member, when speaking to a female who lives in the area, was gifted a vase of lilies, stating she had picked them from someone up the street and had been giving them to friends. Member updated the original complainant who did not want the female charged, only warned.
5:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant reported a window on his travel trailer broken, sometime in the past two weeks.
7:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on his children as he had information that his ex drove home impaired from a rural location. Member attended a residence and confirmed the kids were okay and that the ex had consumed alcohol, but had been driven home by her adult son who was sober. Complainant then reported that his ex had broken a phone he purchased and would not let him speak to the children.
8:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant again called to request a wellbeing check on his kids and complain that his ex wasn’t letting him talk to the children. Member called the complainant to advise him the kids were fine, but he hung up the call. Issues are related to a recent separation.
9:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on his sister due to issues with her partner. Members unable to locate the female that night but confirmed the following day that the complainant spoke to his sister who was fine but had been drinking profusely the previous night.
9:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported harassment after learning that his ex had been recording their phone calls. Member spoke to both and determined nothing criminal had occurred.
August 4
3:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male stole his e-scooter and was riding it around trying to sell it. Member attended the suspect’s current residence and was told that it wasn’t stolen and that the complainant let everyone try it out and ride it around. The suspect claimed he had already returned the e-scooter. Member unable to reach the complainant to confirm and the complainant did not return calls.
8:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Emergency Protection Order received for service on a local male.
12:24 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her mother-in-law is repeatedly calling from out of province, making threats. Under investigation.
12:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in retrieving firearms from a family member. Member spoke to all involved and determined ownership was in question and the complainant may not be the best person to have custody of the guns at this time.
1:39 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment after seeing an online post about roofing materials that were dumped on a lease site; complainant suspected the materials came from her residence. A company from Red Deer had been contracted to repair storm damage and had picked up the rubbish from her driveway near midnight day before the mess was posted online. Investigation forwarded to Brazeau County Peace Officers.
2:23 p.m. – Brazeau County – Third-hand report of threats over Snapchat. Complainant reported that her boyfriend received veiled threats online. Member determined that the threats were not criminal and that the messages had been going back and forth between two young males.
3:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported harassment by her ex and also disclosed violence that occurred in their relationship. Member investigated and a male was arrested and charged with Criminal Harassment. The suspect was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace with conditions and a court date.
6:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible trespasser in an abandoned residence. Member attended and checked the property, finding no trespassers.
7:10 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported a break in and theft of copper from a lease site.
7:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in navigating custody issues and an EPO (Emergency Protection Order) he had been served. Member spoke to the complainant and provided some advice.
8:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a senior’s residence reported a resident missing, having last been seen around 6 p.m. There were reports that the male had been seen at a nearby grocery store. Prior to members investigating, staff called back to report the male had returned and police were not required.
8:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – A youth complainant reported ongoing harassment directed at himself and some friends from another group of youths. Under investigation.
August 5
3:26 a.m. – Poplar Ridge Industrial area – Complainant reported a suspect was trying to steal copper wire from a business yard. Suspect took off when the complainant sounded an audible alarm. Members patrolled the area but did not locate any suspects.
6:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – daily complaint received regarding a female with TVs in her eyes showing people copulating. Member unable to locate the complainant who is known to have mental health issues.
9:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that his roommate is being harassed by a family member via unwanted contact. Under investigation.
10:22 a.m. – Poplar Ridge Industrial area – Complainant reported a pickup had been abandoned in a company yard for about a week. Member investigated and determined the truck belonged to a new employee who had not told the complainant the truck was his.
10:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Rodeo grounds – Complainant reported damage that occurred over the previous few days. No investigative avenues to follow, complainant given some advice on preventative options.
11:56 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a family dispute and requested police come speak to him. Member attended and spoke to the complainant but determined the best action may be to have RPACT (rural police and crisis team) attend and speak with him as the issues seemed to result from mental health issues.
2:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member conducted a curfew check on a male who was not at his approved residence or his place of alleged employment. Under investigation, charges likely.
5:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Complainant reported a male sitting in the park and yelling at kids. Member attended and located a known male who lives nearby. The intoxicated male was told to go home.
5:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male had shown up at a residence banging on windows and doors looking for his cat. Member aware that this complaint is related to some issues at a rural property where the male is not welcome. Member patrolled the area but did not locate the male who was dealt with on a subsequent file.
5:53 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Members attended a collision between a motorized bicycle and a pickup truck. The rider of the motorized bike was transported to Edmonton for treatment. Under investigation, collision may have been a result of the pickup driver being distracted by a mechanical issue.
6:51 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a cow in the ditch near RR 90. Information passed to Brazeau County Peace Officers to investigate.
9:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported threats and harassment from a family member. Related to report received at 5:45 p.m. Under investigation.
August 6
5:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members requested to assist paramedics who were responding to check on a male who had been violent in the past. Prior to attending, members were updated that paramedics were no longer required.
7:49 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a family member trespassing on a property despite being told he is not welcome at the location. See reports at 5:45 p.m. and 9:13 p.m. on Aug. 5. Members confirmed that the male had no lawful right to be on the property. Members attended and removed the male who was compliant with officers.
