A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Brazeau County, near Drayton Valley and Breton.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says a thunderstorm is expected to develop north of Calgary this afternoon and track east toward the Saskatchewan border, and those storms may be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
ECCC officials say there is also the risk of a tornado developing.
Residents of the area should be prepared for severe weather.
