July 9
10:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female for failing to attend court.
4:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female panhandling outside a store. Member attended and removed the female from the area.
8:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported an erratic driver in a pickup pulling a trailer; file initially dispatched to Breton RCMP, but the vehicle was travelling toward Drayton Valley. Member was responding to look for the vehicle, but while en route, a report came in that a truck had collided and was on top of the guard rail near the bridge with a travel trailer on its side. Members attended and determined it was the same truck and trailer reported as driving erratically. The driver was issued an ASD (approved screening device) demand and provided two samples of his breath; both resulted in a “fail.” The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, and the truck was impounded. The trailer was towed and is likely a write-off. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.
11:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male and female yelling at one another in an apartment building. The two then left the building and drove away in separate vehicles. Member attended but could not locate or identify either person.
July 10
3:12 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported being followed by her ex. Members located and spoke to both parties; no charges laid at the time, though the file remains under investigation.
3:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant called 911 reporting she had been assaulted by her spouse. Members attended a residence to investigate; a 30-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
8:09 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported her passport was no longer in her possession and suspected it had been taken by an acquaintance. Under investigation.
10:01 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported he was being bullied and harassed at work; complainant requested some guidance on how to proceed. Member spoke to the owner of the company who was unaware of the issues and said he would investigate.
1:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported cables cut and stolen from a welding truck. Tools and other items were also stolen. Under investigation.
7:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported threats directed toward her due to an alleged unpaid debt. Complainant then reported that a female came to her door and assaulted her. Members located and arrested the suspect later in the evening and charged her with assault. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant and was on conditions of a release order from another area. The female was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
7:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a shoplifter who left a store without paying for a cart full of groceries. A female suspect was seen leaving in an older white Pontiac, possibly a G6, without a license plate attached. Under investigation.
8:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that a previous owner of her residence showed up with a shovel and was trying to remove a tree from the property. Dispatch could hear the female screaming in the background. Members attended and determined that the complainant was willing to allow the removal of the tree as it had a sentimental connection for the previous owner, but expected some notice would have been provided. Members made arrangements that a third party would come and remove the tree with proper notice. The shovel-ready female was upset but agreed to comply.
9:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported ongoing harassment by an ex. Under investigation.
July 11
5:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported two bricks thrown through the window of a building. Under investigation.
8:17 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 493 – Complainant reported cattle loose near Highway 759. Member investigated and was able to determine who owned the cattle and that he was already on the way to corral them back into pasture.
11:51 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported several people manipulating a payment system for online purchases and then being belligerent when attending in person. Member provided some advice on how to proceed.
12:12 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported mischief by a family member; all parties are involved in an ongoing family dispute. Under investigation.
12:52 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested assistance in retrieving belongings from a family member’s residence. Member spoke to the family member, who advised he would facilitate the retrieval of belongings and provide the complainant a ride to an alternate residence.
2:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a male found deceased. Death did not appear suspicious; the medical examiner will be conducting an autopsy.
2:45 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a lease site, with damage estimated at $5,000.
9:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report harassment that occurred in March at a business. No harassment disclosed, complainant given advice on how to obtain information she was seeking.
July 12
2:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male refusing to leave his residence, which led to a physical altercation. Members attended and found that the male, who turned out to be a friend, had since left. Complainant did not want any further action.
3:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that after a texting argument with her partner he made suicidal comments and was no longer responding. Complainant advised that he was last seen heading to work. Members located the male who was not suicidal and stated he made the comments out of frustration. Members offered some resources that may be of help to ongoing life issues.
7:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported suspects entered a business yard overnight and entered storage units that were unlocked. Unknown what was missing but it appeared to be nothing of significant value.
10:33 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a power transformer ripped from a pole at a lease site. Under investigation.
3:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Related to report at 7:49 a.m. When checking surveillance video complainant noticed the same business yard had been entered on the night of July 9.
July 13
10:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two individuals were bringing illicit drugs to town for trafficking. Member spoke to the male, who could not provide much beyond hearsay. File for information only.
10:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested information on how to charge someone for falsifying information that led to him being charged with an offence several years earlier. Under investigation.
11:30 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant called to provide some information on a fraud reported several months earlier. Information to be added to already existing file.
11:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported selling her house in March and that new owners mowed over a tree that was of sentimental value; complainant wanted the new owners charged with damaging her property. Member informed the complainant that if there was a clause in the sale agreement regarding the tree she should speak to a lawyer as this was not a criminal matter. See July 10 at 8:41 p.m. for a related file.
12:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a friend of her daughter threatened to burn down her house. Member spoke to the complainant, who only wanted the matter documented.
1:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a motel guest was disturbing other guests by knocking on doors throughout the day. Member aware that the male has some mental health issues; RPACT (rural police and crisis team) referral made for followup.
6:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her adult daughter was not contributing anything positive in their residence and wanted police help in removing her. Member advised that this was not a police matter and suggested she refer to the tenancy branch for assistance. RPACT referral sent as the complainant suspects mental health issues.
9:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her adult son took her vehicle without consent. Member attended and determined that the son is the principal operator of the vehicle, and that the complainant was intoxicated in breach of her probation order. Member arrested the complainant who was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace for court.
July 14
3:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Member on patrol located a male riding a dirt bike in a care home parking lot. Member stopped the male rider, who after being identified, was arrested. A 36-year-old Drayton Valley resident was charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order; he was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. Several violation tickets were also issued.
8:24 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reported approximately 600 cows loose on the highway with ranchers actively trying to wrangle them. Complainant looking for traffic control assistance. Member obtained assistance from Brazeau County Peace Officers. The Drayton Valley RCMP would like to thank the County for their udderly amazing assistance.
4:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son was refusing to leave her bedroom even after she tried to push him out. Member called the complainant who advised this occurred after she confronted him about his inappropriate online activities; complainant also advised that police were no longer needed as dad was coming to take the son for the night.
5:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a suspicious store employee who she met while shopping. The male then added her to Snapchat and she accepted. Allegedly the male then asked for nude photos and if she wanted to have intimate phone conversations, complainant declined and screenshotted the conversation, the male then blocked her. Complainant was insistent that the male be charged. Member attended the business and determined that there was no employee with the name provided. Member spoke to an employee who matched the description but had no idea what the member was talking about. Member updated the complainant who was erratic, swore at the officer and then hung up.
5:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at the hospital reported a male patient arrived to have a leg wound treated, allegedly caused by a gun shot. Member investigated and spoke to everyone available and was told that a group was shooting at a remote rural location, and that another group was also at the location. The injured male and friends suspected the others had an accidental discharge while unloading and that there was no intent to harm. Under investigation, injuries to the male were relatively minor.
8:58 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reported a single cow (not 600) loose on the highway. Patrol made by Brazeau County Peace Officer who did not locate the cow. Likely related to the report at 8:24 a.m. Perhaps the cow was just crossing the road to join his chicken friend.
9:42 p.m. – Brazeau County, or maybe Parkland County – Complainant reported Township Road 510 washed out west of Highway 22 (border between the counties). Member notified road maintenance but also attended and found the road wasn’t washed out, though there was water running over the road.
11:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported hearing several loud bangs, possibly gunshots. Member patrolled the area but was unable to find a source of the noises, or any apparent emergencies. No other calls received.
July 15
3:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol observed a male on an e-bike at 7/11 who was known to be on a conditional sentence order (CSO) with a curfew. Member spoke to the male, who claimed he had been “called out to help someone in crisis,” who he sponsors in Narcotics Anonymous. Member investigated further and determined the male had not been truthful (liar, liar, pants on fire). The male was located and arrested and held for a CSO breach; he was subsequently returned to custody by a justice of the peace.
8:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – File opened to investigate drug trafficking. A search warrant was executed the following morning at a residence, which led to criminal charges against a 44-year-old and 52-year-old. The 44-year-old was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with a release order. The 52-year-old was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of weapons possession contrary to an order, possession of controlled substance, failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with a release order. Both were held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
8:25 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Members assisted Brazeau County Peace Officers after a black motorcycle fled an attempted traffic stop at speeds over 180 km/h. The motorcycle and rider were not located.
July 16
12:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St/54 Ave – Complainant reported hearing a cougar outside her kitchen window, and a neighbour also heard the same growls. Member patrolled the area but only located a family of deer. Fish and Wildlife notified of sighting.
4:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a street fight near 48 Street, with threats of a knife heard. Member attended the area but did not locate anyone. Member pieced some information together, attended a residence and located one of the males involved. Member determined there had been a consensual fight between friends. No charges and there was no actual knife involved.
