July 2
8:15 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported fraud involving a credit card that occurred after he received what appeared to be a call from the company involved. Under investigation.
10:04 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported people trespassing on a remote lease site. Member attended and determined the subjects were squatting as they believed the site was abandoned. All left the area as directed.
3:49 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a break-in to a commercial building after noticing a broken door lock and some tools left behind. Under investigation.
July 3
6:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported an angry, likely high female causing a disturbance at the front desk, demanding guest information. Member attended but the female had departed and was not located in the area.
4:56 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Staff at the shelter pods reported that a female seeking a pod stated she was breaching her curfew. Members did not attend at the time.
11:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
2:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Member on patrol seized a large bong and a small amount of cannabis from a youth who could not lawfully possess them.
2:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible breach of conditions by a roommate. Member investigated but was unable to substantiate the allegations.
6:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Anonymous report of criminal activity in a residence. Members are aware of the residence and that the information is likely already outdated due to recent police visits.
10:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported other guests at a motel were drinking and yelling outside their rooms. Member attended and all agreed to head inside.
July 4
12:20 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported having an argument that turned into a consensual fight with a relative; the relative had since left. Complainant’s main concern was possible impaired driving. Member patrolled but did not locate the vehicle.
3:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that had been observed earlier parked with open liquor inside. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read, and the driver provided two samples of her breath, both resulting in a “fail.” The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension and the truck was impounded.
11:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported someone broke into a bar; some bottles were stolen and a door was damaged. Under investigation.
12:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that a well-known female was once again causing issues and refusing to leave. Member attended only to learn the female obtained a ride and was now gone.
July 5
12:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a vehicle stopped on Range Road 81 and a male and female arguing. Members attended and determined the two had been at an event in the area. After some investigation an ASD (approved screening device) demand was read and the driver provided two samples of his breath, both results were “fail.” As a result, a provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and the vehicle was impounded. It was determined that the argument had not resulted in any related criminal acts.
7:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave/48 St – Complainant reported two teenagers acting suspiciously around the old pool and Scouts Hall, possibly trying to get in and throwing rocks at windows. Member attended but the suspects were gone, complainant advised they had been picked up by a vehicle. Member checked the buildings and found them secure and undamaged.
8:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported he and his girlfriend were being harassed by his mother while they sat in his truck outside his residence. Member attended and determined mom was concerned about drug use by the complainant’s girlfriend who was not welcome in the residence. The girlfriend then left on foot allowing a conversation about the slippery slope of addictions. Complainant was allowed inside by his parents.
July 6
7:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft of wire and damage to a lease site that occurred over the past couple of days.
10:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Emergency protection order (EPO) received for service on a local male. Male located later in the day and the EPO was served.
10:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported some concerns for two family members. Member conducted a well-being check and made several referrals to other agencies for assistance.
12:07 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a trespasser had been seen in a business storage yard. The suspect was identified but members were aware he is not currently in the area. Member spoke to the property representative who advised it is an ongoing issue, and the company does not store high value items in the lot.
12:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported her wallet had been stolen and multiple transactions were made on her debit card. Under investigation.
1:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported trespassing and damage at a lease site. Incident occurred about three days earlier.
2:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being unable to reach her ex, and that he did not attend a custody exchange. Member confirmed the well-being of the children and advised the complainant.
6:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a neighbour hadn’t been seen outside and that their dog was barking. Members attended and located the female deceased inside her residence. Death not considered suspicious, medical examiner will be investigating further.
8:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainants reported a youth waving a hatchet around in a park area. Members located the youth and seized the hatchet, which had been in his backpack. The youth was arrested and released to a parent with a court date.
11:44 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased elderly male. Nothing suspicious about the death; after consulting the medical examiner the decedent was picked up by a funeral home.
July 7
1:32 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported having an argument with his parents who wanted him to break up with his girlfriend; he refused and was told to leave. Member provided the complainant a courtesy ride to an alternate safe location.
11:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his debit card stolen. Under investigation.
12:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female panhandling outside a store. Member attended and advised her to stop and provided her with some contact information for social supports.
2:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female causing issues in the waiting room, staff requested she be removed. Member attended and tried to find a resolution, but the female continued to be verbally aggressive; she was removed from the hospital and told not to return.
5:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female with failing to comply with curfew conditions.
July 8
1:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported serious allegations regarding the death of her son. Members are aware the allegations are not true. Members are also aware that the complainant has mental health issues. Member unable to contact the complainant, referral made to the Rural Police and Crisis Team (RPACT) for followup.
11:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – assist Drayton Valley Enforcement Services by adding a warrant to CPIC.
1:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – File opened to investigate historical allegations of a child being assaulted.
7:01 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his spouse was trying to frame him. Members spoke to the spouse who reported her husband was intoxicated and had exposed himself to her and that he had been following her around their property. Members attended and after some investigation the male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of mischief and indecent exposure. He was subsequently released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
July 9
5:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50A St – Complainant reported spotting a cougar (the animal, not the car introduced by Mercury in 1967) in his yard and wanted to advise police. Fish and Wildlife to followup.
