June 18
8:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a dental office reported that a dishevelled older male was passed out in a chair in the waiting area. Staff were certain he was not waiting for an appointment. Members attended and removed the male.
9:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a homeless male in the entrance of an apartment building. Description matched that of the male in the previous file. Members attended, but the male was gone; patrols were made, but the male was not located.
9:38 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported theft of copper and extensive damage at two remote lease sites. Under investigation.
12:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two fraudulent transactions on her debit card totalling $62. File number provided as requested by complainants’ bank.
2:07 p.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a possible fraud attempt after receiving a call from a male who said he had missed a call from the complainant. Both males apparently continued asking each other questions that neither wanted to answer, as they were both suspicious. Member spoke to both parties and advised them of “spoofing,” where a call from an actual fraudster appears on caller ID to be from a legitimate or local number.
6:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically. An ASD (approved screening device) demand was read, and the driver provided two breath samples, both resulting in a “caution.” As a result, the driver was issued a 15-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his car was impounded. Normally, the suspension would be seven days, but this was the driver’s second such occurrence. Several pizza deliveries were delayed by this event.
7:58 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported people trespassing on a vacant property belonging to a neighbour. Member attended, located and spoke to the suspects who claimed they had permission and were considering purchasing the property. Member warned them against trespassing.
10:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle. The unidentified rider chose to flee at high speed instead of stopping. No pursuit was initiated, and patrols in the area did not relocate the motorcycle or rider.
June 19
12:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported that his custom-built gas-powered bicycle had been stolen about a week earlier and that he had now located it at a residence. Members attended the residence and recovered the bike. None of the multiple people in the home knew who left it there (a doubtful claim) but while on scene some illicit drugs as well as a set of prohibited brass knuckles were seized for destruction.
10:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist probations with adding a warrant for a male who failed to comply with reporting conditions.
11:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that six suspects pushed in a bay door in a school parking lot. Under investigation.
12:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist Drayton Valley Enforcement Services with adding a warrant.
2:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate drug trafficking.
10:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a shoplifter stole a bottle of liquor. Under investigation.
June 20
1:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members responded to a report of an aggressive male outside the bar. Members determined that the male was upset as his wife wasn’t allowed in due to the bar being at capacity. The male was cooperative and left the area.
2:43 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported vehicles tearing up the ball diamonds by the Easyford campground. Members attended and confirmed damage to the field and a gate. The culprits had since left the area and were not located. No descriptions or plate numbers were provided.
3:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a well-being check on a female who made concerning comments during a Zoom meeting. Members checked on the female and made an RPACT (rural police and crisis team) referral for follow-up.
June 21
2:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members were at the bar on an unrelated matter when a male was observed looking for his phone. Members assisted by calling the phone, which was answered by a female known to police, who stated she had been given the phone by an unknown person. Member attended a location several blocks away and retrieved the phone which was returned to the owner.
11:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female who failed to appear in court.
June 22
12:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member responded to a panic alarm at a gas station. Staff reported the panic button was pushed accidentally but that a male had stolen an item worth $9. Members did not locate the male in the area, and the theft was not confirmed.
8:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported seeing someone else’s child hurting another child in a car. Under investigation.
9:47 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper stolen from a lease site in the Lodgepole area.
10:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female who had been discharged was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Member removed the female and transported her to another location.
12:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported her gas tank drilled and drained overnight.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant realized her bank card was missing and then determined that it had been used several times at different locations in the previous few hours. Under investigation.
1:53 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a green SUV with no plate attached was parked outside his residence. A male spoke to the complainant looking for a male the complainant didn’t know; the male and a female driving then left the area. Member was unable to locate the SUV in the area.
3:45 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported cable stolen from a piece of equipment and fuel stolen from tanks. Under investigation.
11:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two people in a hotel parking lot loitering and yelling at each other. Member attended but found that the two suspects had left. Patrols were made in the area, but no one was located.
June 23
3:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Meier Ave – Complainant reported two males at his front door and that they had possibly tried the door. The two were seen running down a nearby path. Members unable to locate any suspects.
5:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported fencing staples left on the road near his property; complainant suspects a neighbour is responsible. Under investigation.
11:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male made suicidal comments and then left in a truck. Members unable to locate the male or truck in the area but he was located and spoken to by officers in another detachment.
June 24
3:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant requesting assistance in finding a motel room for the night. Complainant stated he didn’t have a credit card and requested a member assist by speaking to Income Support on his behalf. Member obtained a shelter pod for the male and provided a courtesy ride. Member did not call the government on his behalf.
8:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Bear Lake area – Complainant reported ongoing shots being heard on a nearby property. Member investigated and identified the occupants, who both had conditions to not possess firearms. A search warrant was executed on the property the following day and two males were arrested. Further investigation led to the seizure of multiple items including but not limited to firearms, ammunition, tools and a 3D printer with accessories. A 33-year-old was charged with multiple related offences and held for a telephone bail hearing. He was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
9:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Paramedics and Drayton Valley Enforcement Services requested assistance with an erratic male, possibly on drugs. Members attended and located the male who was aggressive and agitated. The male was transported to hospital by paramedics and committed for a mental health assessment by a doctor.
11:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported an older male making several transactions at an ABM while talking to someone on the phone. Member attended and spoke to the male who had sent $900 to someone overseas. Member provided some fraud education and told the male to stop talking to such persons.
1:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that someone went on the roof of a commercial building and ripped off flashing. Damage occurred mid-April. Investigation not possible due to delay in reporting.
4:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported she had caught a repeat shoplifter in a convenience store. Members attended, then located and identified the youth, who was banned from the location as requested by the complainant.
7:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Several reports received of a red Ford truck driving erratically. Members received updated location information and located the truck driving on Elk River Road. A traffic stop was attempted but the driver failed to stop. Member located the truck soon after and the driver was arrested for flight from police. Investigation led to a 72-year-old, of Maskwacis, being charged with flight from police, operating while prohibited, failing to provide a breath sample and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.”
