A special weather statement from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says rain is in the weekend forecast for the Brazeau, Parkland and Yellowhead counties.
Rain is expected to begin Friday evening and continue through Sunday across central Alberta, with widespread totals of 30 to 60 mm possible.
Officials say additional rain may increase the risk of overland flooding, washouts and potential impacts to infrastructure, as the ground is already saturated from last weekend’s storm.
Certainty on the exact location of the rainfall is low, and ECCC says effects could be more localized than last weekend.
Another system is also forecast for Sunday night and into early next week, which may bring additional heavy rainfall to vulnerable areas of central Alberta.
Residents of the areas expected to be impacted are advised to assess risk factors and do what they can to prepare for the rain. ECCC says the weather statement will be updated as forecast confidence improves.
