May 21
8:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her daughter hit her during an argument about not attending school. Member spoke to the girl, who was too young for police to consider charging; she apologized and said she would attend school.
10:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported that someone tried to steal her truck overnight. The culprits were not successful, but left the truck damaged.
12:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a truck driver who may be impaired by cannabis. Member attended and found a residual odour, but no indication of current impairment.
4:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported dirt bikes operating erratically in the area of the schools. Member was unable to locate the dirt bikes in the area.
5:51 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft of a slip tank and fuel siphoned from a drill rig.
6:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a break-in to a residence where tenants were evicted the previous day. Member attended and found that suspects had entered a shed and left several cats in cages. Neighbours had moved the cats outside due to the heat. Drayton Valley Enforcement Services assisted in removing the cats to a shelter. Members located a suspect, advised them of the location of the cats and warned them not to return to the property.
10:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported an intoxicated male driving a grey pickup through a drive-thru. Members made extensive patrols but could not locate the truck.
May 22
8:56 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex parking lot – Complainant reported being assaulted by another male. A video from social media confirmed the allegation. An 18-year-old male was arrested and released with conditions and a court date.
11:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported the gas tank on his rental truck had been drilled overnight and fuel stolen. Under investigation.
3:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended with a restraining order to be served on her ex. Order served.
3:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a male trespassing at a residence where tenants had recently been evicted. Member attended and confirmed via the property owner that the male had been given permission to retrieve some belongings.
6:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an unwanted male in a store who has caused issues in the past. Member attended and identified the male who was shopping with a relative. The male left without issues and the complainant may issue a trespass notice.
May 23
12:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant asked staff in a convenience store to call police on him as he had shoplifted. Members attended and spoke to the male who was anxious and concerned for his safety as people were looking for him, though he wouldn’t explain or identify the persons. Members suspected the male was impaired by drugs; the male agreed to a night in cells for his own safety with a side benefit of sobering up.
2:27 a.m. – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported a domestic dispute. Members attended and determined there were no charges possible, but ensured the pair was separated for the night.
2:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a vehicle speed up to get through a yellow light. Member conducted a traffic stop and issued a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand, the driver provided two samples of his breath, both resulting in a “fail.” A provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and the vehicle was impounded.
May 24
2:13 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported someone seen on video surveillance trespassing in a company yard. Members attended and checked the yard but found no one. No apparent damage or theft.
2:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant once again reported people were sending intimate images to her eyes. Member attended and confirmed her well-being but found no evidence to support her allegations.
1:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant from previous file reported a female in the motel room below hers was talking to her and making her watch sexual content through the TVs in her eyes. No evidence to support this and members did not have the grounds for an apprehension under the mental health act.
6:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported an elderly female escaped from acute care and wandered off the property. Member assisted in returning the female to the hospital.
6:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported hearing rumours that a male had entered a residence she had been evicted from and possibly damaged or stolen some of her property. Member attended and found the interior in disarray but noted nothing obvious to confirm the rumours. Under investigation.
8:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported finding the son of a former tenant sleeping in a residence. Complainant gave the youth a ride elsewhere as he appeared unaware the lease had ended.
10:06 p.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported wire stolen from a lease site, occurred in the past 24 hours.
May 25
1:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that while walking, an unknown male tried to get his dog to hurt her. Member attended the area and spoke to the female who provided vague descriptions of the male and his dog. No such person and dog were in the area, and the female is known for making multiple often nonsensical complaints to police.
9:47 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested a well-being check on his children who he is currently unable to contact. Member confirmed the children were fine.
10:10 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported theft of cable and damage to a remote lease site. Under investigation.
12:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported another male yelled at him and believed there was a no contact condition in place. Member attended and arrested the male for a related complaint and released him with a court date and conditions. The no contact condition had not been in place prior to the arrest.
10:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a known male was causing a disturbance and trying to get into a female’s room. Members attended and after investigating, arrested the male for assaulting the female about a week earlier as well as mischief for events that had just occurred. A 39-year-old male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
May 26
1:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Emergency protection order (EPO) received for service on a local male. Member located the male and served the EPO.
4:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her son had slapped her when she asked him to wash his bedding. Member attended and spoke to mom and son; mom did not want her son charged and the son was remorseful.
7:13 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported having an argument with her husband who then wanted to kick her out. Complainant was seeking information on her rights. Member spoke to both parties and suggested consulting a family lawyer. Some guidance was provided to both on their rights and obligations, including that the complainant could not just be kicked out.
May 27
8:00 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported that while walking her dogs, a neighbour threatened to shoot the dogs. Member investigated and determined there had been a dispute over the dogs allegedly being on the neighbour’s property and he claimed the threat was to have the dogs put down. Both parties were told to avoid one another and to speak to Brazeau County peace officers regarding any bylaw concerns.
11:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported an unknown couple entered a restaurant with an aggressive looking dog and argued that it was a service dog. Questionable paperwork was supplied to the complainant who demanded they leave the premise, which they eventually did. Member attended but did not locate the couple or their “service dog.”
1:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant called advising he was struggling with mental health issues. Member attended and spoke to the male who was having a hard time with alcoholism but not considering self harm. Member provided the male a courtesy ride to hospital.
8:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported an SUV without a license plate on the back left running in the parking lot. Member attended and determined the SUV had been stolen by the owner’s ex-boyfriend in southern Alberta. SUV was towed and is being held for pickup. No suspects were located in the area.
May 28
1:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested advice regarding issues with her boyfriend who has some mental health problems. Nothing criminal occurring at this time but the member provided some suggestions that may assist.
