May 14
8:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an unidentified male shoplifted candy and left on a black mountain bike. Member investigated but found there were insufficient grounds to charge, and the male was not located. Staff were advised to call if he returns and a trespass notice could be issued.
12:46 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported harassment by a neighbour due to positioning of a surveillance camera. Member attended and advised the neighbour to relocate the camera, which he stated had been placed to document trespassing.
3:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a store reported being defrauded of $2400 by a scammer who called claiming to represent management and the landlord of the building. Under investigation.
7:49 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported a suspicious male had been in the area two nights in a row, allegedly selling solar systems. Member did not locate the male in the area but advised the complainant to call back if he returned. Complainant concerned a neighbour may be scammed. Members aware that a door-to-door salesperson had been in the area representing a legitimate company.
May 15
12:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported some suspicious teen males wearing masks. A witness from across the street said one male approached him, and he thought they may try to steal his car. The group of ne’er do wells were not located and suitable video surveillance wasn’t located. Police suspect this may have been a poorly thought-out prank or attempt to create another dumb viral video.
2:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – An intoxicated female called dispatch reporting she had been waiting for police for hours and after yelling at the call-taker she hung up. Member located the female on 50 Ave where she requested a ride home to Rocky Rapids. Members gave her a ride to the drunk tank instead.
4:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported an unknown person in dark clothing trying door handles in the area. Member patrolled the area but did not locate any suspects or damaged vehicles.
1:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported hearing gunshots the previous morning. Member spoke to the complainant and advised a report had been received and investigated the previous morning.
2:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported an unidentified male threatened the complainant’s dog, stating that if the dog bit him he would have it shot. Members did not locate the suspect and there were no reports of dog bites or harm to any animals.
4:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – An intoxicated complainant reported that an ex may have been seen at her place of work and requested his current address so she could have a Restraining Order served. Member advised that police wouldn’t provide his address. The male was not confirmed to have been in the area, and even if he had been, it is the complainant who has no-contact conditions to follow, not the ex.
6:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by a family member. A male was subsequently arrested and released on an Undertaking with a court date and conditions.
8:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her ex tried to get into her RV the previous night. Nothing could be proven and the complainant couldn’t be sure it had been her ex. Member attended but the complainant did not answer her door. See related report at 4:05 p.m..
9:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant called for a third time reporting that her ex had been seen by a co-worker at a public location near her work. Member aware that the complainant has conditions of no-contact against the male and that there would have been no offence, even if he was located. Member attended, but once again the complainant wouldn’t answer the door.
9:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that he recovered his stolen motorcycle at a rural location east of Lodgepole. Motorcycle had been reported stolen on May 12.
10:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her brother had been threatened by another teen male. The suspect threatened the complainants’ brother with bear spray which was displayed but not sprayed. Under investigation.
May 16
12:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop after observing an SUV run a stop sign and then stop in the middle of the road. A breath demand was read, and the driver provided two samples, both resulted in a “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension, and the SUV was impounded for 30 days. The driver berated members stating she had just got four others home safely. #badchoices
2:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol attempted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver. The pickup did not stop, instead running the red light onto Hwy 22 South. The truck then appeared to develop mechanical issues and stopped on the highway. The teenage driver was arrested, and it was subsequently learned his passenger intervened to stop his friends’ dumb choices by trying to remove the key. Member determined that the unlicensed driver took Dad’s truck without his knowledge; he was charged with criminal flight from police and issued several violation tickets. Dad requested he be “thrown in cells” but a member drove him home to the Breton RCMP’s jurisdiction.
7:07 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a lease site office broken into and miscellaneous items and tools stolen.
4:17 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a domestic dispute with his partner. Members attended, no charges laid but they couple was separated for the night.
11:46 p.m. – Brazeau County – Willey West – Complainant reported her boyfriend threatened to drive off intoxicated if she insisted on going to bed. Members attended and spoke to the complainant, determining that no offence occurred at the campsite. The boyfriend was located by another member and refused to provide a breath sample. As a result, the male was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension and his truck was impounded.
11:49 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621/ RR 80 – Complainant reported hearing a loud bang; due to priority calls members did not attend. No other calls received.
May 17
12:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – ATV trails – Members responded to a report of a female screaming that a male was trying to kill himself. Members attended and found no one trying to harm themselves, just a bunch of intoxicated people. Members dispersed the group after finding sober drivers.
12:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported a black truck captured on surveillance speeding away; complainant thought it may have been stolen. The suspicious truck was not located and no reports of stolen vehicles from the location were received.
3:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported a truck on its side in the ditch, past Powerhouse Road. Members attended but the driver had left. The owner was spoken to, and members learned the truck was likely driven by his son, who is a suspended driver. Members suspect the driver left to avoid a charge of driving while suspended. The truck was towed from the location.
3:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported the drivers window on his car had been smashed sometime overnight though it didn’t appear entry was made. Member investigated but no useful evidence was located.
9:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested police attend to keep the peace while she picked up her son from his father’s house. Member attended and observed no issues beyond the complainant’s ex being annoyed by what he saw as a waste of police resources.
11:49 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with an SUV speeding south from Tomahawk. While issuing a speeding ticket the member noted a strong smell of liquor and a breath demand was made, resulting in two fails. The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension and the SUV was impounded. The driver stated he was in a hurry to get to his online arranged date in Alder Flats. Member provided a courtesy ride to town, but the date will need to be rescheduled.
May 18
11:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Museum – Complainant reported a truck abandoned near the entrance to the museum, had been there for a few days. Member spoke to the owner who explained it broke down and he has limited means to deal with it right now. Member determined that the male had a warrant for a traffic offense that occurred in Calgary. The warrant was dealt with while the member was speaking to the male.
1:39 p.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported two people shooting into an embankment at a lease site. Member located the two and determined there were no offences occurring and the location appeared well established as an unofficial gun range.
3:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported tools stolen from a construction site; occurred overnight. Under investigation.
May 19
3:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being threatened with rocks by a family member and that she suspected he also egged her apartment and left two rocks with messages on them. Member attended, no proof of who threw the egg or left the messages and member was aware of ongoing disputes between the two.
5:50 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Complainant reported ongoing suspicious activity at a property in the area; complainant specified that the thought the two suspects seen at the location were involved in “crackhead things.” Member advised that patrols would be made.
10:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported the driver of a black Dodge truck acting suspiciously, possibly “scoping out” items to steal. Member spoke to the owner of the truck, who has no criminal history, and determined they were picking up pallets from several locations.
3:52 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Related to report received at 5:50 am. Complainant requested assistance in removing her son from her property due to suspected drug use; the son had been allowed to store items on the complainant’s rural property. Member attended and arrangements were made to have the items moved to another family member’s property and the son left without incident. While at the location a male acquaintance of the son was found to be wanted for offences in the Wetaskiwin area; he was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace for court on a future date.
5:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Related to reports at 5:50 am and 3:52 pm. Complainant reported her son was now at her residence, being aggressive and showing her his middle finger. Member spoke to the son who said he was there to visit a sibling who owns the residence and he had not made any such gestures. The son left and decided to call his sibling to avoid further issues.
7:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his girlfriends’ mother pushed him. Member attended but found the complainant had left prior to police arriving. The girlfriends’ mother stated the complainant was being confrontational and aggressive and that she used reasonable force to remove him. Member was unable to contact the complainant for further information.
May 20
8:52 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant requested assistance in locating a side-by-side that had been owned by a deceased family member. Under investigation.
10:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her brother, who resides in a senior’s building, has been scammed by a known female who keeps visiting her brother. Complainant reports that the female is let in the building by both her brother and other residents. Member suggested she obtain a Restraining Order and advised that police could investigate. Complainant will pursue the Restraining Order first and may require more assistance if the issues continue.
11:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported that a female assaulted a property owner while she was being lawfully evicted. Members attended and arrested the female who was charged with Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance; she was released on an Undertaking with conditions.
12:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a person laying on the side of the highway, east of town. Member located the known female who was just having a nap while hitchhiking. Member advised her to move off the highway.
2:30 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a transformer and power cable damaged sometime during the past two weeks.
3:17 p.m. – Parkland County – RR 62 – Complainant reported theft and vandalism to a property recently purchased in an estate sale. Complainant requesting patrols in the area.
4:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 82 – Complainant reported that his 2021 Dutchmen travel trailer had been stolen about 5 days earlier. A neighbour witnessed it being towed away by a black lifted GM pickup, but presumed it had been lent to someone by the complainant.
May 21
1:55 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a fire alarm going off in a residence with lots of smoke; complainant requested police attend as there were people doing drugs and smoking and because someone stole her phone. Member attended and found only that the complainant was incredibly intoxicated; no fire, smoke or disturbance.
3:17 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Second call from the previous complainant, this time reporting her glasses were missing. Members attended but the intoxicated female had already been picked up by a friend, presumably so she can wear out her welcome with someone else.
