The Town of Thorsby has plenty of activities in store for this May long weekend.
Starting Friday, May 15, and running through Sunday, May 17, a slo-pitch tournament will take place at the Arctic Spas Recreation Complex on 49 Street. During the tournament, Communities in Bloom will also host a beer garden.
The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
- Friday: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The beer gardens will run at the following times:
- Friday: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
May 16, residents can head to the Thorsby Seniors Centre to enjoy a pancake breakfast with the Thorsby Lions Club from 9 a.m. to noon.
Once breakfast is finished, residents can find their spot to watch the May Long Parade take off at 12 p.m. Access to the east side of town will be blocked at 11:50 a.m. until the end of the parade, and no parking will be permitted on Hankin Street from 50 Avenue to 48 Avenue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Then, at the Lions Campground, there will be a market running from 2-5 p.m. and a Loonie Toonie Movie Night beginning at 9:30 p.m. The campground will show Zootopia 2, and the entry cost is $10 per car.
That’s just the beginning, as the Thorsby Haymaker Rodeo also returns to the Thorsby Haymaker Centre.
May 16, the slack starts at 9 a.m., with performances beginning at 5 p.m.
Sunday, the performances start at 2 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults, $7 for those 16 and under and $7 for seniors. Preschoolers can enter for free.
