April 16
10:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported harassing calls from his ex, including numerous phone calls, messages and contact with his family and friends. As requested by the complainant he was provided guidance on obtaining either a restraining order or emergency protection order. Member contacted the ex and told them to cease any further contact.
10:43 a.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a break-in to a business that occurred overnight. Member investigated but was unable to identify a suspect. Second report received later in the day for same incident.
1:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a male had breached his no-contact conditions while at court. Member at court located and arrested the male who was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
1:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant attended the detachment to report some troubling comments made to her by her ex. Under investigation.
April 17
12:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a truck operating suspiciously. The driver provided a sample of his breath which resulted in a “caution.” The driver was issued a 14-day provincial impaired driving suspension as it was his second offence, and the truck was impounded.
2:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. The driver was found to be a suspended driver and was issued a court summons.
2:18 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a business yard was broken into earlier in the day; tools were stolen but a witness spooked the suspects who dropped items in the ditch and left the area. Under investigation.
2:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a patient possibly intoxicated while in care after a nurse located drug paraphernalia. Members attended and seized some drug paraphernalia and a knife. The patient had agreed to a consent search of his personal items and stated he would not cause any further issues.
5:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being defrauded of about $40,000 after being contacted on “Whatsapp” and talked into transferring the money to a “trading platform” through several apps that were added to her phone at the direction of the scammer. The originating number appears to be in the United Kingdom. Under investigation. Police recommend not responding to such unsolicited or unexpected messages.
7:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – Bear Lake area – Complainant reported a male observed on surveillance stealing propane from a tank on a lease site. Members attended the area and located ATV tracks but the suspect had already made his escape.
April 18
2:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported a disturbance between two males who had been arguing in the bar and then shoving one another outside. Member attended but both had left; one was identified and later told he wasn’t to return for awhile; the second male was not located or identified.
2:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St N – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a pickup due to observed driving behaviour. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read, and the driver provided two samples of his breath, both resulting in a “Fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and the truck was impounded. Don’t drink and drive.
4:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by her boyfriend at her residence. Members attended and arrested the male for assault. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
5:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a domestic situation but then hung up on the dispatcher. Member spoke to the intoxicated complainant who requested a well-being check on her ex. Member confirmed later in the day that the male was fine but also being harassed repeatedly by the complainant via calls, emails and messages. Further investigation led to the complainant being arrested for two counts of harassing communications; she was released with conditions and a court date.
7:00 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported fuel stolen from a tank, under investigation.
10:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a male for failing to appear in court.
1:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Complainant reported a male and female walking in the park and acting unusual. Member attended and located the pair, who were both intoxicated and determined that the female had twisted her ankle. Member provided a courtesy ride to a residence.
2:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Complainant reported several youths in a white car near the skate park actively damaging it. Member attended and found a male youth driving the car. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver stated he just bought the car and the damage was being done for recreational purposes. Tickets were issued for operating without insurance or registration.
3:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported an unwanted guest in her residence. The unwanted female was visiting a male resident but could be causing a breach as another male resident has conditions of no-contact with that female. Member arrived to find the female guest and complainant arguing. A suggestion was made to have the first male return at another time without his female friend to retrieve belongings as he plans to move out. A confusing situation at best.
5:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a group of hooligans behind a hotel smoking and behaving oddly. Member attended and located the pair who were previously dealt with at 1:37 p.m.; they were reportedly walking around to try to sober up. The pair were able to care for themselves but warned that a third strike may lead directly to jail.
6:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported damage to a chain link fence and a storage tent, and that a male and female were camping on private property in a tent without permission. Member attended and identified the suspects who were told they had to leave. Member located some possibly stolen property in the area but did not have grounds to arrest either person.
6:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested police attend and remove a female who was causing a scene and smashing her own belongings in the waiting room. Member attended and removed the female from the property. Police and hospital staff are familiar with the female who is known for such disruptive behaviour.
9:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members attended a business property for an alarm and found no one inside though the back door was open. Property representative attended and determined nothing was missing or damaged, and it appeared the door latch hadn’t been secure. Surveillance video viewed later showed two males entered through the open rear door but left when they set off the alarm. Unable to identify the males from the video.
9:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/55 Ave area – Complainant reported that a youth just smashed a neighbour’s window with a bat and then left the area. Members patrolled the area and from speaking to witnesses identified a possible suspect. Member spoke to the youths’ parent who provided a potential alibi for her son. Unable to positively identify the suspect.
11:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant requested a well-being check on her daughter who may be having a domestic dispute with her partner. Members attended the residence and spoke to the male who was sober and with their children. His partner apparently left without telling him to drive to her mother’s residence about a half hour away. A Breton RCMP officer confirmed she was at her mothers and not in any danger. No charges.
April 19
12:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Security reported a male in a black Chrysler driving erratically in the parking lot, ongoing for 15 minutes. Members attended and arrested the known male for mischief. The male was issued a 24-hour driving suspension for suspected impairment, but was left at the hospital as it appeared he required medical attention.
9:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant from a security company reported two males walking through a business and then were trying doors across the street. Member attended with a property representative and found the suspects gone and nothing damaged or missing.
9:55 p.m. – Aspenview area – Complainant reported that a family member was intoxicated and having a psychotic break. Members attended and spoke to the female who explained she was struggling due to a recent breakup. The female was taken to hospital by family to speak to a doctor.
April 20
12:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members were dispatched to an address after a report from a female that she had been drugged by her ex-boyfriend. Under investigation. At the time of the call the complainant was intoxicated and in detachment cells awaiting a bail hearing.
12:52 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported fraudulent withdrawals from his bank account. Under investigation.
1:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a physical assault of a child by a family member. Under investigation.
1:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a female had breached conditions put in place the day before. Members located and arrested the female who was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with similar conditions and a court date.
1:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported finding a plastic cover with apparent bullet holes in it by a gravel pile near the old HW Pickup School site. Member attended, no shell casings or witnesses found, bullet holes may have been from a BB gun.
3:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported a youth had damaged a card reader at the back door of a school; incident was caught on video surveillance, and a possible suspect identified. Under investigation.
7:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Complainant reported threats involving himself and two other youth. Under investigation.
April 21
3:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Dispatch received a 911 call from a female who said someone with a communication device was disturbing her. Member attended and spoke to female who is known to have mental health issues. Nothing going on and no concerns for her safety. RPACT (rural police and crisis team) referral made.
7:56 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Emergency protection order (EPO) received for service on a local male. Member located the male and served the EPO.
12:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported fuel stolen from his semi while parked at a hotel overnight. Under investigation.
2:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Team Auctions Center parking lot – Complainant reported that sometime overnight signs were stolen from the stairs of the breast cancer screening trailer set up by Alberta Health Services. Under investigation.
4:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that a neighbour threatened his dog while it was out running around. Member attended and learned that the complainant’s dog was loose and has charged at the complainant’s young daughter. Member told the complainant to secure his dog on his own property to avoid future issues.
11:23 p.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported damage and theft of wiring at a lease site after he had been notified due to a power issue. Members attended and patrolled the area but did not locate any suspects. Under investigation.
April 22
10:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Third-party complaint that a male youth sprayed a female youth with silly string and then took her purse and sat on it, not returning it until after he went through it. School Resource Officer planning a creative resolution.
11:30 a.m. – Tomahawk – Agriplex – Complainant reported that overnight someone vandalized a gazebo and then several hours later a different person took all the books from the little library on site. Under investigation.
11:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a counterfeit $20 located in a deposit being made by a local organization after a fundraiser. Unable to trace the source of the bill.
1:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment to report ongoing abuse by her spouse. After investigation a male was arrested for assault and released with conditions and a court date.
3:46 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant attended the detachment to report being a victim of a fraud after receiving a call offering to upgrade her telephone and billing plan from someone impersonating an employee of her service provider.
3:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a custody issue involving her child’s grandmother who is refusing to return the child due to concerns about the living situation. Member spoke to the complainant and learned that grandma wants the residence checked by CFS prior to returning the child. Member suggested the complainant contact CFS directly. Member also suggested getting an updated custody agreement.
April 23
6:46 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported an injured deer near Twp Rd 514. Member attended along with Fish and Wildlife Officers, who euthanized the deer.
