Brazeau County council has approved a full mechanical system upgrade at the Easyford Community Hall.
The upgrades include replacing three furnaces and a hot water tank at a total cost of $24,000. The funds will be allocated from the Buildings Restricted Reserve.
On Jan. 21, it was determined that Furnace No. 1, which services the front lobby, kitchen and washroom areas, was not functioning. That left the county with the option to replace that furnace alone or the entire system.
As the heating equipment currently used is reportedly nearing the end of its lifecycle, council opted to complete a full system upgrade in an effort to improve reliability and reduce future maintenance costs.
As part of the upgrades, two 35-gallon and 25-gallon water tanks will be replaced with a single 75-gallon tank.
