January 15
5:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported observing his ex trying to harm herself while on a video call. Members located the female at a residence, and due to her condition, paramedics attended and transported the female to hospital.
8:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – An intoxicated complainant called 911 numerous times, reporting a female acquaintance and an unidentified male hacked his phone. Members located the male who spoke about talking to Elon and things that were going to happen 4.5 billion years in the future. Though there were some apparent mental health issues, members decided that sobering the male up would be a good start; he was held in cells until sober and released. Sadly, his knowledge of future events was fading once sober.
11:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members located a female wanted for failing to attend court elsewhere. The female initially tried to provide a false name but decided to come clean to avoid new charges. The female was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing during which the charge was withdrawn by Crown Counsel.
January 16
4:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a hotel guest being belligerent toward staff and making accusations they took his phone. Members responded and spoke to the male who is known to have mental health issues. Members noted he had the phone in his possession and told him to go back to his room and then check out in the morning.
5:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members returned to the scene of the previous call as the male was still causing issues. Members removed the male from the hotel.
12:11 p.m. – Brazeau County/Parkland County – Alberta Sheriffs conducting traffic enforcement on Hwy 624 reported a white GMC truck fled from an attempted traffic stop after radar indicated it was travelling at high speed (190+ km/h). The truck was last seen heading south on RR 70. Members responded to a location where Sheriffs had re-located the truck, unoccupied and in the ditch. With assistance from RCMP K9 unit and a helicopter, three suspects were located and arrested. A male and female passenger were released without charge, while the driver, a 33-year-old Drayton Valley resident, was held for a telephone bail hearing. They were charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by Crime. They were released by a justice of the peace with a court date and conditions. The truck had allegedly been stolen in the Stony Plain area on Jan. 3.
3:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his daughter was being threatened by another girl online. Under investigation.
January 17
10:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a jewelry box and contents missing from her apartment. Under investigation.
10:57 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported damage and theft of cables at a rural lease site.
January 18
12:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff in a hotel reported seven males in the lobby, being loud and refusing to return to their rooms, beyond the bedtime of other guests. Member attended and all agreed to return to their respective rooms.
2:23 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members conducted a curfew check on a male and found he was breaching by not being home. File open for charges.
2:47 a.m. – Tomahawk area – Members responded to RR 54 for an automatic crash notification from a phone registered to a local male. A truck also registered to the male was located damaged and off the road. Members were unable to locate the owner or reach him by phone. Under investigation.
9:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his neighbour, a suspended driver, was seen driving. Members are aware of the male and of the truck he drives and will stop the vehicle when encountered.
7:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Several calls received reporting an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a convenience store. Members attended and arrested the male as he had threatened a taxi driver, broke off a dash cam and refused to pay his fare. Members determined he was also breaching his probation. The male was arrested and held to sober up and await a telephone bail hearing; he was subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court.
January 19
12:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a restaurant requested assistance in serving a trespass notice on a male who had worn out his welcome and displayed an inability to properly pay his bill earlier in the evening. Member advised this would not be a problem as the male was in cells (see 7:56 p.m. January 18).
7:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Ricochet Aquatic Center – Complainant reported his wallet stolen while at the pool and that his bank card was used at two locations in town. Under investigation.
9:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a breach of conditions by a male that occurred the previous evening. Under investigation.
10:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible scam after receiving a call purportedly from one cell company telling her she needed to migrate the plan from her current related cell phone company as it was closing. Some information was given out and the caller followed up directly with the companies; unclear if the call was legitimate or not.
3:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported his garage had been entered and several items stolen; occurred in the previous few hours. Under investigation.
7:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Paramedic reported that while at the hospital he was hit with a bedpan by an elderly male. Under investigation.
January 20
10:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Emergency protection order (EPO) received requiring service. Member served the EPO as required.
9:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Two complainants reported a male had posted on Facebook alleging he was being abused by his girlfriend and requested police be called. Members attended and found no evidence of abuse but did arrest the male as he was breaching two prior release orders. The male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing and eventually released by a judge.
January 21
8:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a break and enter to a business property that occurred overnight. Culprits stole several larger items and appeared to have carried them off in an ice fishing sled that was also missing. Member attended and along with the complainant checked the area; all the missing items were recovered as they had been stashed in a nearby wooded area.
9:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Ricochet Aquatic Center – Members initially responded to a report of two males fighting outside the pool. Once on scene it was found that items had been stolen from a locker, and while the victim was reporting this to staff, he noticed a male approaching his vehicle and the lights go on and off. The victim of the theft detained the suspect until police could arrive. The male was arrested and all items stolen from the locker were recovered. The 53-year-old suspect was released on an undertaking to appear in court.
12:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate drug trafficking by several suspects in the area.
1:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported receiving calls from his bank advising that suspects had tried to setup credit cards in another name. Complainant had reported his wallet stolen several days earlier. Member provided him with some suggestions on protecting his identity and credit. Further investigation options limited as no actual fraudulent applications had been received by the bank.
2:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a hotel guest who had been kicked out a few days earlier was continually calling and harassing staff demanding a cleaning fee back and claiming some of his property was missing. Member was aware the fee was due to the suspect not following hotel rules, and that there was no evidence of items being missing. Member located the male at another hotel and told him to stop calling the hotel and instead consider reporting to the hotel’s head office.
4:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male and female arguing in a church parking lot. Members attended and found the male standing over the female but determined there had been no assault. Members arrested the male as he was under the influence of an illicit substance. He was held in cells and released when sober.
4:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a truck headed east with a large load; complainant was concerned it would hit the Pembina River Bridge. Members unable to attend, but no reports of anything striking the bridge were received.
5:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a male in a white car causing issues with a wide load. Patrols were made but the car wasn’t located. Member followed up with both parties the following day; related to the previous complaint.
