January 8
8:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a family member breached a no-contact order by sending messages. Member investigated, and the suspect, who resides elsewhere in Alberta, was arrested and given a court date by the nearest RCMP detachment. File remains under investigation.
11:53 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a break and enter and theft of tools from a business shop. Member investigated and recovered some items stashed nearby, but also determined the location had been partially insecure for a couple of months. Property representative was given some suggestions on improving security. Under investigation.
5:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported driving over and dislodging a manhole cover. Member attended and put the cover back before there were any further mishaps. Town of Drayton Valley Public Works advised.
10:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that upon checking her surveillance cameras, she noticed a white truck pull onto her property about 12 hours earlier. There were two men and tools in the truck. Member attended and found no evidence anyone had been trespassing in her yard, hopefully alleviating the complainant’s concern that they were going to return to commit crimes.
January 9
8:49 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported that sometime in the past couple of days his truck was broken into and loose change stolen. Complainant had moved the truck for snow clearing and did not notice right away.
10:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court on a traffic matter.
12:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a female who failed to appear in court on a traffic matter.
3:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a female who failed to appear in court on a criminal matter.
7:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a store reported a suspicious female loitering. Member attended and identified the known female who was removed from the store.
11:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a neighbour playing the drums throughout the night. Member spoke to the neighbour who agreed to keep the noise down stating he didn’t know it carried that well.
January 10
3:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that his girlfriend stole his wallet. Members attended and spoke to both and determined the wallet had been returned already. No charges though the two were separated for the day.
9:08 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her ex was threatening to steal her truck. The male had since left and had not taken the truck. Member contacted the suspect and warned him about his behaviour and of potential charges.
January 11
1:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol observed a suspicious truck fueling up at a gas station. When the driver saw the member, he ran back to the truck and fled. A plate was obtained and the truck was confirmed to have been stolen Jan. 3 from Stony Plain. Member attempted to follow, but lost the truck in a rural area. Under investigation.
January 12
7:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being the victim of a domestic assault in November. Under investigation.
1:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Anonymous 911 complaint that the “town crackhead” was driving a lawnmower, towing a trailer and headed toward the dump. Complainant believed he should do a citizens arrest to prevent the male from breaking into the dump. Member patrolled the area but did not locate the mechanical menagerie or run into the “town crackhead.”
2:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate an allegation of a forged document being used.
January 13
1:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle leaving a motel. Member tracked the Dodge minivan to another location and confirmed it had been reported stolen in late September to RCMP in Spruce Grove. A 38-year-old Edson resident was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on a charge of possession of property obtained by crime. They were subsequently released with an upcoming court date by a justice of the peace.
2:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Concerns for the welfare of a child reported to School Resource Officer. CFS involved and dealing with the issues.
4:07 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment with a restraining order to be served on a male. Order served as required by a judge.
6:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his truck had been stolen overnight. Complainant stated that a friend dropped him off at the hospital and then took the truck to visit a woman somewhere in the area. When the friend woke up the truck and keys were missing. Member determined that the truck had been used in an attempted lease site theft in the Breton area and seized after the culprits escaped on a quad. Member also determined that both the complainant and “friend” are well known to police, police do not believe the truck was stolen.
January 14
12:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her brother was intoxicated in the adjacent motel room to hers but kept knocking on her door wanting to talk. Member attended and spoke to the brother who was told to stay in his room or go to jail.
11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member attended a residence to assist a Town of Drayton Valley Peace Officer attending to check on a dog. The dog was located inside the residence and seized as it was in obvious distress. The resident was not home.
11:25 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant was defrauded after responding to a text message telling her of suspicious activity with her bank account. Under investigation.
2:01 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported fraudulent charges of about $125 on his bank account. Charges related to a bike rental company in Europe. File number provided as requested by the complainant’s bank, but further investigation options limited.
6:09 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being scammed out of $3,000 after receiving a text message. Under investigation as the complainant had very poor cell phone signal and the call taker had difficulty obtaining details.
6:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Anonymous complainant reported concerns about a youth due to some ongoing events at home. Member was aware of the situation and that CFS were already involved with the family. Member unable to speak to the complainant for further details.
