The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for certain Pillsbury brand pizza pops.
Certain batches of the pepperoni and bacon variation are being recalled due to possible E. coli O26 contamination.
The following products are affected:
The products were distributed nationally. As of Dec. 24, 23 individuals have reported illnesses associated with the recall, including nine Albertans. Five people have been hospitalized.
Albertans are advised to see if they have affected products, which should be thrown out or returned to their place of purchase. You should not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products.
Food contaminated with E. coli O26 may not look or smell spoiled, but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe cases of illness, some people may have seizures or strokes, need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis or live with permanent kidney damage. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
Updates will be shared on the CFIA website.
