November 20
10:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported that a shoplifter stole insulated winter pants and left a store. Under investigation.
2:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an injury observed on a young boy while at school. Member investigated and liaised with CFS, who conducted a home visit. The boy has difficulty communicating, but it is suspected the injury was the result of a dog bite.
2:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance in mid-October. Investigation led to the male being arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on one count of sexual assault. The male was released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
5:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a homeless male entered a restaurant and demanded food. When he was refused, he offered up some profanities and stole money from a tip jar while leaving. The male returned a second time and stole the tip jar. Member viewed video surveillance and immediately recognized the suspect. A 30-year-old male was located and arrested later in the evening. He was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of failing to comply with an Undertaking. he was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
7:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a male had assaulted a child in a store and then got into an altercation with another male that intervened. Members attended and arrested a male for assault. After further investigation and viewing available surveillance, the male was released without charges; the file remains under investigation.
November 21
2:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a shoplifter left a store with a basket of unpaid items. Under investigation, police have a suspect in mind, but are waiting to view video surveillance footage.
November 22
11:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her PlayStation 5 missing and believes that another female residing in the residence took it. The suspect is also the mother of the complainant’s ex. The suspect denied taking it, and a review of messages show counter accusations and that each have issues with the other.
2:52 p.m. – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported finding a suspicious truck near her residence, and that she had seen a couple of males near it several days earlier. Member attended and recovered the truck, which had been stolen in Whitecourt on November 6. The truck was held for a forensic examination, but no suitable evidence was recovered to identify a suspect.
11:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by her mother. A second call came from the mother who reported being assaulted by her daughter. Members attended and determined both statements were accurate, both had hit the other. No lasting injuries resulted, and no charges were laid. The daughter left to go to a friends’ residence by taxi.
November 23
1:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complaint received that a male had attempted suicide. Members attended and requested paramedics, who transported the male to hospital for treatment and assessment.
12:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that he was advised he had been named in a social media post showing he was on the court docket for a sexual offence. Complainant was upset as he has not been convicted. Member advised the complainant that the information is publicly available and that the post was not threatening in nature. The person who made the post was contacted and advised that a complaint had been received about him.
9:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he was selling some items on Kijiji and was concerned that the proposed payment and pickup situation was an attempted scam. Member spoke to the complainant and suggested it may well be a scam and recommended he request cash on pickup.
November 24
8:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his black GMC crew cab had been stolen from his yard overnight. Under investigation.
9:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant turned in some found methamphetamine for destruction.
11:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported ongoing harassment from her ex-boyfriend. Under investigation.
11:38 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Elk River Rd area – Complainant reported locating an ATV in bushes off a lease road. Member located the ATV and confirmed it was stolen, but a tow truck was unable to retrieve it. The owner was advised of the location.
12:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ricochet Aquatic Center – Complainant reported that while at the pool he noticed marks on the back of a boy that appeared to be burn marks. The boy told the complainant they were rug burns. Under investigation.
2:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported a young child wandering the neighbourhood unsupervised. Member located the child and walked him home where his mother was spoken to. Referral made to CFS for follow up.
4:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 41 St – Complainant reported a Lexus with no plate parked on the street. Member attended and determined the car wasn’t stolen, but not currently registered. Previous owner unable to be reached. Drayton Valley Enforcement Services advised.
November 25
12:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members were called to assist paramedics with a person experiencing some mental health issues, likely induced by drugs. Members assisted and the male was taken to hospital.
7:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance as the male brought in earlier by paramedics was medically cleared but refusing to leave. Member attended and ensured that the male left the building.
8:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported that his 2019 Ram truck had been stolen from his employer’s yard and that he had GPS tracking showing it was in the Thorsby area. Thorsby RCMP checked an address but didn’t locate the truck. The truck was recovered later in the day in the Warburg area. Under investigation.
8:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Complainant reported a truck broken into overnight while waiting for service. Member attended, no evidence located except for boot prints which were photographed for possible comparison if a suspect is located.
11:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Family attended the detachment with a Form 8 Mental Health Act warrant for a family member experiencing some related issues. The male was apprehended a couple days later and transported to a designated mental health facility for treatment.
3:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a Facebook marketplace fraud. She reported buying an item and sending an e-transfer for $150 but was contacted by her bank who told her it was a fraud. Complainant not out the cash, no reasonable investigative options.
November 26
3:23 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported that someone may be in the home she was at and suspected a male who had resided there previously. Members attended and cleared the residence and property, no one was located. Members also located the male asleep at a different residence and confirmed he had been there all night as required by court ordered release conditions.
10:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Assist Drayton Valley Enforcement Services by entering a traffic warrant.
12:33 p.m. – Parkland County – Moon Lake area – Complainant reported vandalism to his tractor that occurred sometime in the past couple of months.
2:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a possible abduction attempt of a young boy that occurred the day before. Under investigation, but based on the information provided, members do not believe the incident occurred as most every stereotypical circumstance was included in the report.
2:31 p.m. – Tomahawk – Members located and arrested a male who had not been home the previous night for a curfew check. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released on another release order by a justice of the peace.
3:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a young boy walked into his apartment and seems unsure where he lives. Members were aware of the boy from a file on the 24th. The boy was once again returned to his mother and Child and Family Services was advised.
3:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported giving his credit card number to a utility company technician and that about $950 was subsequently taken. Under investigation.
5:15 p.m. – Violet Grove – Complainant reported some pension money was lost to a Bitcoin scam. Under investigation.
5:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported she exchanged some firearms with a male over the past few years and now he won’t return hers. Under investigation.
