November 13
1:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported locating an AirTag in her vehicle. Under investigation.
3:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two youth walking in an alley with a hammer. Member patrolled the area but could not locate the pair.
3:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported he was scammed out of $9,000 after receiving a call from “his bank” telling him his account was compromised. A quantity of gift cards was purchased and the card numbers provided to the scammer. Complainant was given some advice on how to secure his accounts, but investigation options are very limited.
5:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being stuck looking after some out of control children as their mother had gone out of town for medical treatment. Member spoke with all parties and liaised with CFS for assistance. Mom agreed to return home to the relief of the complainant.
November 14
8:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a Ford F350 stolen from a business overnight. The truck was located abandoned and damaged two days later, near the City Service Bridge. Under investigation.
9:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported a suspect tried to steal a pickup from a business overnight. Surveillance video showed a suspect, but the person could not be identified.
9:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her brother threw a knife at another sibling, was damaging walls and throwing garbage. Members attended and spoke to everyone present. CFS assistance requested as the boy is too young for police to charge.
9:58 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported receiving a text from an out-of-country number, demanding he pay $500. Complainant reported that his social media account had been hacked, and messages were being sent accusing him of terrible things. No money was lost, and the complainant was provided some advice moving forward.
2:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his deactivated email was hacked and now redirects to a Chinese website. No personal information or money lost. Under investigation.
2:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Member attended a location while investigating an earlier file and was advised of a truck that had the back window smashed out.
7:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant requested police remove a male from his residence. The male was intoxicated and reportedly disrespecting the complainant and his cat. Members attended and arrested the male who was being held down by others as he and the complainant had been in an altercation. The male was released when sober and told not to return to the complainant’s residence.
November 15
12:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Member on patrol stopped to speak to a couple looking at a car. Member determined they were looking at their car, and that someone had broken a window and stolen $50 and a debit card. A person of interest was seen in the area by the car’s owner, but members could not locate someone matching the provided description.
8:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported two dogs abandoned near a donut shop; complainant said the pair were off leash and not prepared for the weather. Member attended but did not locate the dogs.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a staff member was hit with airsoft pellets when leaving work the night before. Under investigation, complainant believes video surveillance may provide a licence plate number.
1:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male had breached conditions of his release order, removed an ankle bracelet and left the location he was required to remain at. The male was located and arrested around noon on November 16, held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
6:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported his 2011 Ram pickup had been stolen from his driveway after he had left it insecure and running. Member attended and learned the truck had been recovered after it was found parked nearby, though several power tools were missing. Under investigation.
11:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported fireworks set off at the homeless camp. Members attended and learned that a blue diesel pickup had pulled into the parking area and set off three fireworks in the direction of the encampment and then left. Member viewed video surveillance from a nearby location and confirmed the incident occurred, but the truck could not be identified.
November 16
12:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended to a report of an elderly female found deceased in a senior’s home. The death was not suspicious and had been expected. Medical examiner consulted and no autopsy will be completed.
1:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported an intoxicated male, passed out in an alley. Members attended and located two intoxicated males, one who was laying on the ground. Both eventually chose a taxi to their hotel over a night in cells. Good choice. No problems reported by the hotel.
8:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported leaving a residence for three days, and when she returned her belongings were gone. Member spoke to two other residents who both denied any knowledge of where the items went. All persons are known to police.
1:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported the back window of her car smashed with a hammer; hammer left at the scene. Under investigation, complainant provided a suspect name.
5:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her ex had taken a bunch of pills. Members attended and determined that the complainant had thrown a can of food at the males’ head. The complainant was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing while the male was transported to hospital for treatment. The female was subsequently released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
9:40 p.m. – Brazeau County – Third party complaint that a male and female had been arguing and that the male may be suicidal and possibly driving while impaired. Members eventually located the male in a bar. To prevent continuation of possible offences and to ensure his safety due to intoxication, he was arrested and held in cells overnight.
10:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he is being harassed on social media and people are posting pictures of his car and making threats, all due to a sticker on his car window. Under investigation, complainant to provide more information.
November 17
2:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant wanted to know the property rep for his apartment building as he has concerns about his rent and about a male who comes to his apartment and eats his food. Complainant well known to police for mental health issues. Member contacted the male who then told her to “f@@@ off” and that he no longer needed police. The male was transported to Ponoka Centennial Center a couple days later after family obtained a mental health warrant.
8:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a Ford flatdeck work truck stolen from a business yard overnight. The truck was recovered on November 19 from a location near Mayerthorpe. Under investigation.
9:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported several instances of vandalism by spray painting at a business that occurred over the previous week.
10:26 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported parking his truck in Lodgepole at what he thought was a community hall, to go hunting. He later received a call from his boss asking if he was in Lodgepole and telling him that people at the location had been in the truck. Complainant reported some property was taken from his truck and a bill was left for parking fines of $300 per hour. Complainant spoke to those at the location who returned all his property.
11:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported an attempted break and enter to a business that occurred overnight. Under investigation.
1:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to turn in a small bag of crystal methamphetamine she found on the street. The 7.2 grams of meth will be incinerated.
5:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her ex had sent messages suggesting he was suicidal. Member located the male in his truck, obviously upset. Member drove the male to hospital so he could see a doctor as there were not grounds for an apprehension under the Mental Health Act.
5:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported his e-bike stolen and provided the names of three people he felt were responsible. Member asked how he knew they were the culprits; complainant said he “heard” this from a few people, though he couldn’t remember who told him. Member asked the complainant to bring in some details of the bike, such as make/model/serial number.
November 18
1:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant from a monitoring company reported a male could be seen in a business yard stealing from bins. Members attended but the suspect was no longer on the property. Video surveillance viewed but the suspect could not be identified, and it was unclear what was taken.
9:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Ave – Complainant reported a black Chevy pickup stolen from a business yard overnight. Under investigation.
3:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate allegations of physical child abuse.
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with a Form 8 Mental Health Act warrant for a family member. As required, a member located and apprehended the male who was then transported to Ponoka Centennial Center for treatment.
9:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male breaching a release order after he climbed out a window of the location he is required to be at 24 hours a day. Under investigation, charges and a warrant pending.
November 19
1:26 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his girlfriend was in a rage and bit his nose. Members attended and a female was located and arrested. She was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with a court date and appropriate conditions.
8:02 a.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported his 1997 Chevy pickup stolen from his yard overnight, but that it was already located stuck in a nearby ditch. Member attended, vehicle being retrieved by the owner.
12:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Grandstands – Complainant reported finding wire strippings under the bleachers. Member attended and removed a small amount of garbage wire casings and put them in a dumpster. Unable to determine who was responsible or where the wire may have been stolen from initially.
12:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a youth made a YouTube video which included threats toward the complainant’s son. Member investigated and spoke to the suspect and his parent advising that he consider what he says to avoid further repercussions.
3:17 p.m. – Tomahawk area – Member on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle observed a suspicious male on an ATV. Another member attempted a traffic stop but the ATV fled. The ATV and rider were relocated, and members were able to track the ATV all the way from Tomahawk into Drayton Valley, with assistance from RCMP Air Services. The male rider left the ATV and after trying to steal a truck was arrested by members in the area. The ATV was confirmed stolen from Mayerthorpe and a loaded, sawed-off shotgun was recovered from a bag the male had in his possession. A 19-year-old was held for a telephone bail hearing on criminal charges including driving offences, breaches, weapons offences, mischief and possessing stolen property. They were remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
