Brazeau County council met recently and approved a nomination for a councillor to join the Rural Municipalities of Alberta, a grant application and set a date for the next tax recovery auction.
Council adopted a motion to support Division 5 Councillor Shayne Blosky as he seeks the nomination for vice chair of Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) District 3.
The RMA is an advocacy group representing 69 counties and municipal districts as an independent association.
Council also approved a $1,000 event grant for the Buck Creek Community Association.
The grant is intended to cover some of the costs associated with the group’s Fall Dinner, which took place on Oct. 25. The event was a fundraiser for renovations to the association’s floor, as well as a chance for community members to meet their neighbours and strengthen relationships.
Lee Chambers, Director, Community Services, clarified that the group applied for the grant before the event, but council meeting dates didn’t align with the item until after the fact.
The 2026 tax recovery auction was also scheduled by council and will occur on Feb. 11, 2026.
The properties currently listed for auction owe a collective $12,192.97 in unpaid municipal taxes.
