The Government of Alberta is investing in flood and drought protection for communities, including Brazeau County.
This fall, $25 million is available for communities across the province as part of a five-year, $125 million Drought and Flood Protection Program.
So far, $50 million has been invested into 28 projects, including one in Brazeau County. The investment supports the Hill Top Stormwater Improvement Project.
According to government documents, the project will divert stormwater to its natural drainage outlet, with enhanced culverts, an open flow channel and a wet pond to reduce runoff impacts and provide additional storage.
The county was allocated $748,230. Under the program, the province covers up to 70 per cent of total eligible project costs.
Applications for 2026-27 funding are now open now and will close on December 1.
