August 8
10:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported damage to a utility box, no suspects or evidence.
8:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a male and female shoplifting; the pair were now outside. Member attended and were advised the female didn’t leave with anything and neither were still on the property. Patrols made in the area failed to locate either suspect.
9:17 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Members attended a single vehicle collision; an SUV had driven off the road through a fence and into some trees. The male driver was confirmed deceased by paramedics; it is believed the driver suffered a medical incident while still on the highway. No other vehicles involved.
August 10
1:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported an assault at the bar. Members attended and initially arrested two persons. Investigation determined that an intoxicated male had been making unwanted advances toward a female who eventually shoved him to the ground. Others then became involved believing she was assaulting him. All parties eventually left the scene and no charges were laid.
8:03 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his father was causing issues at the complainant’s grandmothers’ residence. Members attended and investigated, determining that charges were warranted. A 49-year-old man was located later and arrested. He was held for a telephone bail hearing on multiple charges and remanded into custody by a justice of the peace.
1:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a vehicle abandoned on a lease site. Members determined the truck was owned by a male reported missing elsewhere. With assistance from Search and Rescue, the male’s body was located in the area. Foul play not suspected.
August 11
6:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported two tires slashed on her vehicle, on two different nights. Complainant had a suspect in mind but there was no evidence to charge anyone.
11:48 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that sometime since August 6, two lease sites were entered and a significant amount of diesel fuel was stolen from equipment.
2:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Complainant reported his red and black Benzhou moped stolen overnight. Under investigation.
2:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported tires on his truck slashed overnight.
August 12
11:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Rodeo Grounds – Third party complaint of damage, member attended and confirmed damage. Under investigation.
12:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Ring Road – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver. Member located the truck and obtained two breath samples from the male driver; both were a “fail.” The male was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, and his truck was impounded for 30 days.
1:07 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend won’t stop contacting her. Member investigated and as a first step, told the ex to stop contacting the complainant or he would be charged.
3:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a large cheque from his business account had been fraudulently deposited elsewhere. Under investigation.
August 14
8:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported his vehicle broken into overnight and about $4,000 worth of tools stolen.
9:21 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported that while applying for a loan he learned someone had obtained credit cards in his name, but with an Ontario address. Under investigation.
2:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that on July 28 he found someone had attempted to steal his truck and then on August 1 he returned home to find the door handle ripped off and the inside ransacked. Nothing of value stolen except for the license plate.
3:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex area – Complainant reported that she put a trap out hoping to trap her cat that escaped home, and when she returned the trap had been removed. Town employees advised they had not removed the trap.
August 15
12:19 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported a break and enter in progress at a lease site. Members attended but the suspects had left and were not located in the area. Investigation did not identify a suspect, but a suspect was arrested later on an unrelated file.
7:26 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported that a male in a gravel truck had defecated on the property of the community building. As requested by the complainant, the company involved was contacted and told to speak to their drivers about this disgusting behaviour.
7:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant reported his truck stolen from his workplace at about 4 a.m. Edmonton Police located the truck later in the day and followed it back to the Tomahawk area where Drayton Valley members assisted in arresting the male. Charges were laid by Edmonton Police for possession of stolen property.
9:18 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported a theft that occurred overnight at a remote site. Under investigation.
1:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his elderly roommates had assaulted him. The complainant stated the male came at him yelling and screaming and grabbed his collar. Members attended and the elderly roommates were both taken to hospital for other reasons. Under investigation.
1:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a truck in the river. Member had the truck towed; it had been stolen in Rocky Mountain House a few days earlier.
2:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her ex is breaching conditions of a restraining order. Under investigation.
3:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported being scammed by an offer for a new cell phone. Under investigation.
4:09 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported an office trailer had been broken into overnight; some clothing and paper towel was stolen.
August 16
10:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported losing $1,600 to a bitcoin scam after believing he was speaking to Google and a bank. Under investigation.
12:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported locating his father deceased. Members attended, nothing suspicious, medical examiner contacted and declined to investigate further.
8:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported someone cut the lock on a business yard and tried to enter a van on site. Complainant requested extra patrols as the yard is quite full now.
9:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Member attended the homeless camp and observed a male carrying a female who had overdosed. Paramedics were called to assist and transported the female to hospital.
10:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – As a result of information obtained on the previous file a search warrant was obtained and executed, and a male and female were arrested for drug trafficking. Charges to be determined after further investigation.
August 17
9:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Off duty member observed a suspicious truck in a drive thru and had the plate queried by an on-duty member. The plate did not match and was later confirmed as stolen. Member located the truck leaving the property and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver immediately fled. Members attempted to track the truck but were unsuccessful. Charges are pending as the male is well known to police and identified by the off-duty member.
12:43 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a fence to a business yard cut and tires strewn about. Member spoke to the property representative who was able to confirm nothing was missing and that he was aware of the cut fence and believes someone tried to steal a tire.
10:36 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported a domestic between a female acquaintance and her boyfriend. The male reportedly assaulted his girlfriend, dented her car and threatened the property of the complainant. Members located and arrested the male who was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with a court date and appropriate conditions.
August 18
8:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported a purse stolen during a funeral, occurred a couple days prior. Under investigation.
9:05 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported a utility trailer stolen from a lease site, occurred over the past 24 hours. Under investigation.
9:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that eight days earlier someone tried to steal his truck from where it was parked at a fuel card lock. Video surveillance reviewed but the suspect could not be identified.
10:38 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported fraudulent purchases made on his credit card in Ontario totalling about $300. Possibly related to a courier link that the complainant clicked on several days earlier.
11:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver after the male left a licensed premise upset at being refused service. A description of the male and the truck was provided, and members located the vehicle. The driver provided a breath sample which resulted in a “fail.” The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, and his truck was impounded.
August 19
7:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex Campground – Complainant reported a fight between occupants of two sites. Members attended and determined the reasons for the incident. One male, who was heavily intoxicated refused to identify himself and tried to escape to his trailer. The male was arrested and found to be breaching conditions; he subsequently assaulted members while in cells awaiting a bail hearing. As a result, a 40-year-old from Calgary was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace on charges of failing to comply with a release order, assault peace officer (x2), mischief, Disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest.
August 20
7:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Members of the Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit located a wanted male in a stolen camper on a lease site. Investigation led to the recovery of four rifles, four stolen vehicles and other related stolen property. A 33-year-old male was held for a telephone bail hearing on multiple charges and outstanding warrants, and subsequently remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
8:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 57 Ave – Complainant reported tools and equipment stolen from a building after a door had been left unlocked. Under investigation.
1:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a lease site, occurred within the previous few days.
6:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male and female stole a bottle of vodka from a liquor store. Member identified the male suspect who will be told not to return to the store. Complainant does not want to pursue charges.
7:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male left a store with items not paid for. Based on descriptions provided a potential suspect was identified. Patrols in the area did not locate the male and member is waiting for video surveillance to determine if charges are possible.
9:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate a possible sexual assault on a minor.
9:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members located a male for a prior complaint of shoplifting. Upon searching the male a large quantity of cannabis and seeds were located, along with a hatchet and some methamphetamine. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing as he was also breaching prior releasee conditions. He was released by a justice of the peace to appear in court on a later date.
August 21
7:39 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported wire stolen from a lease site, occurred within the previous month.
