The Drayton Valley Thunder fell 3-1 to the Grande Prairie Storm during their first pre-season home game last night.
Nothing hit the net until 4:03 into the second frame, when Grande Prairie’s Cody Carson made it 1-0 with an assist from Noah Chadi and Charlie Leclair. The team was two seconds into a power play following a roughing minor for Drayton Valley’s Cash Parkin.
About four minutes later, the Thunder’s Cale Chimera snuck the puck in, bringing the teams to a 1-1 tie. He was assisted by Dylan Snelgrove.
It wasn’t until 17 minutes into period three that the Storm hammered back with another goal, this time from Ryder McAslan, assisted by Rory Frew.
Harry Minucci sealed the deal with an insurance goal about two minutes later to claim a 3-1 victory. Noah Chadi had the helper.
Throughout the game, the Thunder had four power play opportunities, but failed to capitalize.
The Thunder play at home again Sept. 2 against the Devon Xtreme. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
