Drayton Valley town council has approved a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Drayton Valley Library Board, and also a request to redirect funding towards library collection development.
The previous MOU expired June 30 and the new agreement will go into effect Sept. 1.
Officials say the new agreement includes minor changes, such as the title of library manager, previously library director, and changes to the library security systems.
The Drayton Valley Municipal Library was also previously approved for $10,000 in funding to support the acquisition of a Sea-Can for storage. A letter from the library board explained that the previous town CAO, Pat Vincent, helped it acquire one that was no longer being used from the Omniplex.
As that need has been filled, it would like to use the funding to develop its collection by purchasing books, DVDs, program supplies, materials and resources for its “Library of Things,” or a study pod to give users a quiet, private space.
Drayton Valley town council approved the funding redirection and the new MOU during its regular meeting at the end of July.
