July 31
2:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a store reported a male acting strange, air boxing in the aisles. Member attended and identified the male, though he had already left. The male was located nearby, and the member was able to determine his behaviour was his normal. The male went on his way.
3:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley -46 St – Complainant reported a male, who appeared high, acting erratically near the Skate Park. Members attended and located the same male spoken to on the previous file, who was now obviously high on something. The male was arrested and held in cells until sober.
4:24 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a male in a black Dodge Caravan on the side of the highway trying to sell “gold” items for cash. Member attended but this obvious scammer had left the area.
4:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported young teens using marijuana at the Skate Park. Member attended but the persons involved were not located.
August 1
2:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that his recent friend/girlfriend had assaulted and threatened him and accused him of being someone else. Members attended and found the victim in the driveway and the suspect hiding in a closet. The female suspect was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats. A telephone bail hearing was held, and she was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. Substance abuse and mental health concerns may have been a factor.
7:31 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members responded to a “BOLO” (be on the lookout) from Breton RCMP for a possible impaired driver in a white SUV with B.C. plate. Member located the vehicle and suspected the driver was impaired by drugs. An “SFST” (standard field sobriety test) was conducted, which the driver failed. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. Based on items observed in the vehicle, a search was conducted, and 200 grams of suspected fentanyl was seized. The 48-year-old male was returned to cells and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, impaired operation of a vehicle, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of stolen property. A Drug Recognition Expert assisted at the detachment and confirmed the male was impaired by drugs. A justice of the peace subsequently released the male on conditions to appear in court later.
10:00 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported suspects cut a fence at a lease site and dug holes, presumably looking for cable to be stolen.
1:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a male registered for a shelter pod the previous night with a potentially underage female. Under investigation.
8:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he had been texting with a person who he thought was a female who requested selfies including a nude. Once the photos were sent the female became aggressive and demanded money; no money was sent. Member confirmed that this was a scam and provided the complainant with some guidance on protecting himself in the future.
9:30 p.m. – Parkland County – Anonymous complaint of a dog being left on a rural property and only checked on periodically. The complainant stated the dog is often running loose and could be hit by a vehicle. Member advised peace officers of the concerns.
August 2
2:24 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reported that her husband had invited a co-worker to camp with them on crown land and that both her husband and the other male consumed large quantities of beer. The co-worker was becoming aggressive and the complainant’s husband was threatening to “defend his trailer” if needed. Members attended and separated the two males, bringing one to cells to sober up until morning.
11:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a family member being the victim of a domestic assault. Members investigated and arrested a male who was charged with assault, mischief and failing to comply with probation. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace. File remains under investigation pending court.
2:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that an elderly neighbour came to his residence complaining that his music was too loud and then punched him in the face. Members investigated and arrested the assailant for assault, subsequently releasing him to appear in court at a future date.
3:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/near 50 Ave – Complainant reported an orange Hyundai sedan passed unsafely on the wrong side and was driving dangerously. Members did not locate the car in the area but forwarded the information to Breton, where the owner resides.
7:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported two trucks passed him unsafely and at high speed. Complainant to supply dash cam video.
August 3
8:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle travelling at excessive speed south on 50 Street. The motorcycle did not stop, and fled, last seen heading down Highway 620.
1:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members attended to a location behind a business for a report of a deceased 44-year-old male, likely due to overdose. The investigation remains open as charges are being considered against a female for failing to provide the necessaries of life as it has been alleged that she failed to call for medical assistance.
1:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant reported a blonde male carrying a skateboard was writing on a vehicle and then threw a garbage can and markers from the helipad onto the street. Member attended and found no damage, and the tossed items had been put back in place. Under investigation as the complainant has video of the incident.
3:54 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported being threatened by his ex’s boyfriend. The ex and new boyfriend had left about 20 minutes earlier. Under investigation.
August 4
8:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member observed a female known to have a warrant enter a fast-food restaurant. The female was located inside and arrested. As she was unable to pay fines for the traffic warrant, she was transported to Edmonton Remand.
11:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a male swinging a machete around in the alley behind a business. Members attended and arrested a 36-year-old Drayton Valley resident. They were held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of possession of a weapon, fail to comply with conditions, possession of stolen property and disturbing the peace. The individual was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
August 5
1:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported possible sexual interference of a female youth. Under investigation.
6:05 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported a truck stopped near her residence that she believed was her stolen truck. A male suspect took off toward town after seeing the complainant. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the truck.
10:06 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported a male was threatening family with a crossbow. Members attended and the suspect went inside rather than speak to police. A warrant to enter the residence was obtained and the residence searched, but the suspect was not located. Police Dog Services were also unsuccessful in initiating a track. Family members at the location were not cooperative with police, and members believed the male obtained a ride away from the home. No further calls were received after police left.
August 6
7:33 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Complainant reported a trailer laying the ditch near Highway 39. Member attended and recovered a cargo trailer that had been stolen in Calmar around 6 a.m. Trailer had minimal damage and likely became unattached as it had been hooked up in a hurry. Under investigation.
1:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported that a male threatened to burn her grandmother’s trailer if she didn’t return a cat. The complainant informed police that she threatened the male by telling him she would get a gun and go after him if he didn’t leave. Neither party wanted charges, and they were both told to stay away from each other. Unknown what outcome the cat preferred.
2:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a canoe stolen from a motel earlier in the day. Complainant advised police that there may have been a misunderstanding due to where on the property the canoe had been left, and he only wanted the canoe back. Member located the canoe a couple days later and told the person in possession to return it, which was done.
3:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported a grey Dodge Magnum pulled over near Range Road 90 throwing cans out the window. Member did not locate the car or the three occupants.
4:18 p.m. – Brazeau Dam area – Complainant reported that while parked at the boat launch overnight, two trucks owned by her and her brother had holes drilled in the gas tanks, door handles broken and property stolen. Under investigation.
9:18 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 82 – Complainant reported a suspicious truck with the window smashed and driver door open. Member attended and found the keys in the vehicle. The owner was contacted and said his son had been driving it. The owner attended and then reported that his son couldn’t be located. The son eventually contacted family to advise he was in Wetaskiwin with the grandparents’ truck.
10:31 p.m. – South of Lodgepole – Members responded to an alarm at an industrial site. When arriving, suspects were seen fleeing on a side by side, the suspects managed to evade police by way of multiple lease roads and trails. It was discovered they also attempted to steal an ATV and trailer. It was later discovered that the side by side used during the escape had also been stolen. Under investigation.
August 7
5:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported a male in a vehicle following and threatening the complainant and her sister, yelling at them from the road as well as other serious sounding allegations. Members attended and determined the male in the vehicle was looking for a vehicle of his that the complainant’s other sister had. Vehicle being searched for had not been reported stolen and the suspect had left prior to police arriving.
7:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – (Related to file at 5:09 am) Members were dispatched to an unknown disturbance at a residence. Three complainants had called and were unable to explain to dispatchers what was going on. One complainant reported that her nephew had been kidnapped. Members located the nephew, who had not been kidnapped, and who was able to explain what was going on. Continuation of the previous report involving the missing but not reported stolen vehicle. All parties known to police.
7:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Third call for good measure, related to the two previous calls. Complainant reported hearing third hand that her son had left unwillingly with another male in a car, the same male reported in the two previous calls. Members contacted the son and met with him; he was there with friends and hadn’t been kidnapped.
