July 24
9:19 a.m. – Brazeau County – Elk River Rd – Complainant reported that a male stole a “Nodwell” tracked vehicle from a work site. Workers were able to corner the suspect still in the area; suspect exited the Nodwell and walked off into the bush. Complainant provided descriptors and a photo of the suspect. The following day, members located and arrested a 64-year-old resident of the Warburg area. The individual was held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of: theft of a motor vehicle, mischief and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. They were subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
6:29 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported a break in to a gas site and damage to a transformer and buried cables.
July 25
6:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his new black utility trailer stolen from outside his hotel overnight. Member attended, video showed a male in a white 2010-ish GM pickup, hook-up the trailer and leave. Under investigation.
12:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/45 Ave – Complainant attended the detachment to report he unintentionally cut off another vehicle that likely hit the curb. Complainant stopped around the corner, but the other vehicle did not. Complainant reported as he suspected the other driver may have vehicle damage.
12:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male passed out in a truck outside a dentist office. Members attended and spoke to the male, who denied sleeping or passing out, stated he was waiting for a friend who was at an appointment. Member confirmed there was a friend at a dentist appointment
4:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Dump – Staff reported an unwanted male near closing time. Member attended and removed the male, advising him that he could be issued a ticket for refusing to leave the refuse site.
5:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a brownish/grey super loud truck blowing black smoke passed on a double solid line at excessive speed. Truck last seen passing the golf course area. Member was not able to locate the truck and no plate was provided.
July 26
1:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex area – Members received two 911 calls, one from a male and the other from a female; both callers hung up. Members attended; investigation and circumstances lead to the male being arrested for assault and the female for obstruction. Both were intoxicated and lodged in cells. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing, given a release order by a justice of the peace but remanded in custody on an unrelated pay or stay traffic warrant. The female was released when sober with an appearance notice.
4:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported a truck hit a senior’s residence and a male was seen leaving on foot. Members attended and determined that two suspects broke into a truck and tried to steal it but due to a security system could not actually complete their mission. The truck then rolled across the street and into a post at the seniors home causing minor damage. The suspects fled on foot with minimal descriptors available. Under investigation.
5:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his truck stolen from a hotel parking lot overnight. Truck described a burgundy F350 crew cab flat deck with a B.C. license plate. Surveillance showed that the theft occurred at 1:40 am and no suspects can be identified. A suspicious white Chevy crew cab was seen in the area and may have been involved. Under investigation.
10:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Members responded to a 911 call where a female was yelling for police. Once on scene the female caller reported she had been assaulted by her now ex-fiancé. Members spoke separately to the couple, who were both intoxicated. A sober witness present for most of the incident was also interviewed. No charges were laid due to a lack of evidence and very conflicting stories. The couple were separated for the night.
July 27
7:21 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported a side-by-side on fire just off Hwy 759. Member attended with firefighters who extinguished the blaze. The side-by-side was destroyed and towed from the scene. Under investigation to determine ownership and if it was stolen.
10:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported a male in a convenience store washroom “freaking out” and scaring customers. Members attended and spoke to the known male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. He was lodged in cells to sober up.
12:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported three pairs of sunglasses stolen from a gas station by three individuals. Member attended and viewed video surveillance and was able to identify the group. Under investigation, charges possible depending on the wishes of the complainant.
12:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported shoplifting from a liquor store. A male entered, grabbed a case of alcoholic iced tea and left without paying. Complainant told him he needed to pay for the beverage, he replied, “No I don’t.” Video surveillance provides clear images of the suspect and his truck though the investigator is still trying to identify the male.
July 28
3:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members on patrol located a truck in a parking lot with people around it. Alcohol and Cannabis were located inside and outside the vehicle. The driver was identified and breath samples were obtained, resulting in two “fail” readings. The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension and the truck was impounded.
11:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to add a warrant for a male who failed to comply with probation conditions.
1:37 p.m. – Brazeau County – area of the dam – Complainant reported two kayaks stolen from her husband’s truck while they were camping. Kayaks described as a 10 ft blue Pelican Mission and a 10 ft green Pelican Magna 100.
10:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two males entered a liquor store and shoplifted two mini bottles of liquor. Under investigation.
July 29
2:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Third party complaint of a domestic assault. Members attended, and after investigation a 24-year-old male was arrested for assault, mischief and unlawful possession of firearms. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released with conditions and a court date by a justice of the peace. Five unsecure firearms were seized from the residence and the Firearms Officer was advised due to the circumstances; including the guns being in a residence where the owner did not reside.
7:38 a.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported someone entered a lease site and emptied a tank of chemicals into a containment basin and stole the tank. Incident occurred over the previous week. Under investigation.
10:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported that on July 27 someone ransacked her car and stole a vape, and then the next day an Amazon package was stolen from her porch. Under investigation.
July 30
6:13 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported her husband’s 2001 grey GMC pickup stolen, a similar truck was seen in the area around the time of the theft, possibly related. Under investigation.
8:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Ring Road – Complainant reported an old beat-up Dodge pickup parked near mailboxes. Member attended and found the owner sleeping in the truck. No evidence to support impaired driving or theft offences, but a ticket was issued to the driver due to observations made by the member.
1:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant reported someone entered a business yard and damaged property causing a spill. Under investigation.
July 31
1:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported that a known male approached him to obtain drugs and when the complainant ignored him the male threatened to punch him out. Complainant called police so that the male would leave, which he had. Patrols in the area did not locate the male.
