A public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 in the Town of Drayton Valley regarding proposed amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and Municipal Development Plan.
Bylaw 2025/05/D proposes to rezone a parcel of land from Urban Reserve to Residential Acreage. The plot is adjacent to Range Road 75, near 58 Avenue (SE-19-49-7-W5).
According to the town council agenda, this would create continuity with adjacent land, which is within Brazeau County and zoned either Country Residential or Agricultural.
Bylaw 2025/07/D also seeks to rezone a parcel of land from Urban Reserve to Residential Acreage. This plot is adjacent to Township Road 493 (NE-15-49-7-W5).
The parcel was designated as Urban Reserve following its annexation from Brazeau County and the Land Use for the area is reportedly not compliant with that designation.
Bylaw 2025/06/D would amend the Future Land Use Map within the Municipal Development Plan to reflect any changes resulting from the rezoning proposed in the aforementioned bylaws, if they were to be approved. The town says the map and Land Use Bylaw need to be in alignment, as conflicting information could result in potential future development appeals.
All three bylaws were given first reading during a regular meeting of town council on July 30.
All three bylaws will be discussed during the Aug. 13 public hearing, to be held in council chambers at the Civic Centre at 9 a.m.
Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback. Those who cannot attend may provide written comments to the Planning and Development department (plandev@draytonvalley.ca) or in person at the Civic Centre on or before Aug. 7.
