Multiple Parkland County and area residents have been arrested following a “warrant roundup” conducted by the RCMP.
On July 10, Parkland RCMP, in partnership with the Central Alberta District’s Crime Reduction Unit, targeted prolific offenders in the area.
As a result of the project, the following arrests were made:
- A 19-year-old Parkland County resident was arrested on warrants for possession and stolen property over $5,000.
- A 40-year-old, also a Parkland County resident, was arrested on warrants for possession and stolen property over $5,000.
Both individuals were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton on July 11 and July 14, respectively.
While attempting to make a third arrest, officers said they witnessed an allegedly stolen vehicle pass them. Following a brief foot pursuit of the occupants, two males were arrested.
A 33-year-old Spruce Grove resident, who had been released on parole on July 2, was charged with possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000 (motor vehicle) and
possession of stolen property not exceeding $5,000.
Due to his alleged breach of parole, he was sent back to a correctional facility.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was reportedly a young offender and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They were charged with:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000 (motor vehicle)
- Possession of stolen property not exceeding $5,000
- Drive a motor vehicle without a license
- Drive a motor vehicle while uninsured
- Fail to comply with a sentence order (x5)
- Fraudulent concealment of a license plate
- Possession of break and enter tools
