The Town of Drayton Valley is holding a public hearing regarding a proposed bylaw intended to encourage business investments in the area.
On July 2 at 9 a.m., residents can share their thoughts on the Commercial and Industrial Property Tax Incentive Bylaw, which would offer tax relief on new developments, including the expansion of existing business. The town says the intention is to attract investment, stimulate economic growth and create local employment opportunities.
While this has potential long term benefits, the town notes that in the short to medium term, the municipality will collect less tax, especially if a development would have happened without the incentive.
The public hearing offers an opportunity to share your comments, questions and concerns about the bylaw. It will be held in council chambers at the Civic Centre and broadcast online via Webex.
The town says those who can’t attend can submit written comments to the Growth Services department via email (growthservices@draytonvalley.ca) or in person at the Civic Centre on or before June 26.
