Three Drayton Valley residents and one Stony Plain resident have been arrested following RCMP investigations into drug trafficking and a stolen vehicle.
The Alberta RCMP Community Response Team (CRT) and Drayton Valley General Investigations Section (GIS), with assistance from the Drayton Valley RCMP, have been proactively targeting drug traffickers in the area and recently executed two search warrants in relation to these investigations.
A search warrant was executed on a residence in the Poplar Ridge Trailer Court in Drayton Valley, which allegedly revealed 60 grams of methamphetamine, brass knuckles and $840.
As a result, on June 3, a 36-year-old male Drayton Valley resident was arrested and charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- Breach of release order (x4)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Breach of a weapon prohibition order
The individual was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. His first appearance was in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on June 17.
In relation to the same search warrant, a 32-year-old, also a Drayton Valley resident, was arrested the same day. They were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and a breach of probation.
This second suspect was taken before a justice of the peace and released with conditions, and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on July 15.
On June 5, another ongoing trafficking investigation by the Alberta RCMP CRT, Drayton Valley GIS and Drayton Valley RCMP led to the arrest of a 39-year-old resident of Drayton Valley.
Officers executed a search warrant on a residence and allegedly seized the following:
- Quantity of methamphetamine
- Quantity of fentanyl
- $985
- Brass knuckles
The individual was charged with trafficking fentanyl; possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl; and possession of proceeds of crime.
He was held for a bail hearing and released with conditions, and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on July 15.
On June 6, Drayton Valley RCMP received a report of a stolen 2023 Polaris Ranger. The Alberta RCMP CRT and detachment officers located the vehicle at the Esso in Alberta Beach. As a result, a 46-year-old Stony Plain resident was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody, and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain on June 25.
