Drayton Valley and Brazeau County Fire Services have issued a fire restriction for the two areas due to hot and dry weather anticipated over the weekend.
The restriction went into effect Friday morning.
The town says restrictions occur when the fire hazard in the area is high to very high.
Outdoor burning is now only permitted in approved fire pits or burning appliances.
Existing fire permits are still valid, however no extensions or new permits will be issued until the restriction is lifted.
Permitted uses include:
-
Safe wood campfires in approved fire pits
-
Portable propane fire pits
-
Gas or propane stoves and barbecues
-
Charcoal and pellet barbeques
-
Catalytic or infrared-style heaters
-
Approved and certified incinerators (for agricultural use)
