November 7
8:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported windows smashed out on his vehicle. Occurred overnight while parked in complainants’ driveway. Under investigation.
9:12 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported suspects entered a lease site and stole a 1000-gallon propane tank, value over $5000. Under investigation.
3:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Member conducted a traffic stop with a known male. The male provided insurance documents which were confirmed to be falsified as no such coverage existed. Investigation lead to a search of the vehicle and seizure of a loaded prohibited revolver, and several separate quantities of drugs. Members then obtained a search warrant and searched a hotel room where the male was residing, recovering additional stolen property. 31-year-old Michael Ruesch of Drayton Valley was charged with multiple offences including firearms offences, drug possession, various breaches of conditions, and possession of stolen property. Ruesch was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace.
3:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported gravel trucks routinely failing to stop at the stop sign and operating without tarps. Patrols made and information to be shared with other agencies.
3:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR73 River Ravine/River Ridge area – Complainant was told by her daughter that a bald man in a silver GM truck had circled her and asked to take her picture. A second child confirmed the event. No license plate obtained or surveillance available. No confirmed criminal offence but definitely creepy.
4:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a male laying on the ground across from Boston Pizza. Member attended and confirmed the male was just sleeping. As the male was gathering his belongings members noticed a bag of what appeared to be Fentanyl. The male was arrested and the drugs seized. As he appeared to be under the influence of drugs he was held in cells to sober up safely and released with a pending court date.
November 8
2:24 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Member conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to expired registration. A male passenger was arrested due to outstanding warrants and held for a telephone bail hearing.
8:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that on two occasions a female has shoplifted an ice cream treat and a bong. Member attended, female identified from surveillance video. Under investigation.
12:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Information received that a student made threats toward his school regarding what might happen should he fail Chemistry. Under investigation by the School Resource Officer, all indications are there is not an imminent threat, but perhaps a mouth engaging before the brain has thought it through.
2:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ricochet Aquatic Centre – Staff reported two males in the pool who had been drinking, and on previous occasions had been belligerent toward staff. Members attended and escorted the pair from the building, arresting one male as he had an outstanding warrant.
November 9
8:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50A St – Complainant reported someone tried to break into a semi truck overnight. No entry gained and the owner didn’t want further investigation, only for police to be aware.
9:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a truck parked in a town lot had a window smashed out. Member attended with the driver and confirmed a backpack and laptop were missing. Under investigation.
8:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant’s reported a male banged on their door claiming to need gas. Members attended and located the truck, which fled after the member attempted a traffic stop. Member was able to track the truck and located it parked on the Paul Band First Nations. Police Dog Service assisted and the male driver was located hiding up a tree. 38-year-old Anthony Richard was arrested and held in Parkland RCMP cells to await a telephone bail hearing on charges of Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving while Prohibited. Richard was remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace.
11:50 p.m. – Brazeau Dam area – Dispatch initially received a dropped 911 call, and upon reconnecting were advised that a male had shot at people. Members attended and determined that some friends had been camping and hunting in the area and a male had shot a female several times with a 22-caliber rifle. The suspect had initially assaulted his spouse and then shot another female several times. Members arrested Leomer Valencia of Edmonton who was held for a telephone bail hearing on charges including attempted murder. Valencia was remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace. The female victim was transported to hospital in Edmonton.
November 10
12:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported that a window on his work truck, along with windows on a Jeep parked in his driveway were smashed. An unknown male was seen running away and the complainant gave chase until the suspect got into a white Ford Super Duty and left. Under investigation.
6:37 p.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 510 – Complainant reported a male with a truck in the area since around 1:30 p.m. Apparently the male had been sitting in the bed of the truck. Member attended and found on one around, the truck unlocked with keys inside and frost covering the outside. Truck not stolen, registered to a male from Edson. Member towed the truck as it was parked unsafely just over the crest of a hill.
November 11
8:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported drugs found in a store, left behind by an unknown person. Member attended and retrieved the suspected methamphetamine for destruction.
November 12
12:49 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Member on patrol located a suspicious truck backed into a spot and confirmed it had been stolen from Red Deer on Nov. 9. Member viewed surveillance video and identified the driver and passenger, who were both located and arrested in the area. The female was held in cells and released in the morning without charge; and the male driver was held for a telephone bail hearing. 30-year-old Levi Rain was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. 64 grams of methamphetamine were seized. Rain was remanded in custody.
8:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Peace Officer reported locating a stolen truck. Member attended, truck reported stolen Oct. 10 in Rocky Rapids area. Truck recovered, likely had been at the spot for some time.
4:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that sometime in the past four hours someone broke a window on his car and stole his wallet. The complainant’s reported his card had been used locally. Under investigation.
5:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported trucks being used to move some of the newly placed concrete barriers in the parking lot. Members attended, suspects were gone. Barriers moved back to their proper location.
November 13
1:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a bus driver may not be fit to drive. Under investigation.
2:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report that a small personal loan had been taken out in her name. Under investigation.
9:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 57 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious truck sped past with no lights on and sparks coming off a front wheel. Member located the truck with a plate attached belonging to a local male, but the plate did not match the truck. Shortly after two males arrived; one had bought the truck off the other and had insurance, but the truck wasn’t registered. Truck towed from the scene.
November 14
12:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a truck driving erratically, failing to maintain the lane and braking for no reason. Member conducted a traffic stop and issued a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand, which the driver refused to comply with. Member arrested the driver who subsequently changed his mind and provided a sample, which resulted in a zero reading. After some further interactions a 24-hour suspension was issued due to a suspicion of impairment by drugs.
7:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 82 – Members attended to assist firefighters with a structure fire. Firefighters had the fire out. Several cats in the resident succumbed to fire, homeowner was away at the time. Under investigation by the Fire Department.
