April 25
11:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Dump area – Members attended to assist firefighters with a fire in the woods. On arrival it was found that a member of the local unhoused community was burning inappropriate items in a small fire, causing worrisome black smoke. The fire was put out and the male was warned.
11:53 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members responded to Center Court for an unclear situation, possibly an altercation between son and step-father. Members determined that a known suspect had attended a residence, struck a male in the head and then took off with his truck. All parties are known to police and it’s unclear if there is evidence to support a charge due to limited cooperation and credibility.
11:54 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported that he has been getting harassing calls from a debt collector for the past five years, even though he is not the debtor. Under investigation.
5:57 p.m. – Lodgepole – Member attended Lodgepole to assist a County Peace Officer who had found a male attempting to steal gravel, and discovered that the male had an outstanding traffic warrant out of Edmonton. Member attended and returned the male to cells until he was able to arrange payment of the outstanding fines.
9:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Complainant reported someone trespassing in the old HW Pickup School, though the male had since left. Members did not locate the male, ongoing issues with the property that is being demolished.
11:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported multiple vehicles racing near the Omniplex. Members attended but the vehicles weren’t located and no suspect vehicles were in the parking lot. Police would like to suggest drivers be considerate of local residents and understand that the public actually don’t think they are cool.
April 26
6:00 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported a likely stolen truck abandoned and blocking access to a property. Member attended and queried the plate, which appeared to be a valid match, but member checked further and found the VIN did not match the plate. VIN query confirmed the truck had been stolen from Bashaw area in February. Under investigation.
9:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley area – File opened to investigate sexually explicit messages being sent to several females, including one youth. Under investigation, suspect is known.
9:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Omniplex area – Members attended to a report of a fight between several combatants near the Omniplex. Several young males involved, apparent minor injuries. Under investigation.
11:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a truck observed leaving the parking lot of a licensed establishment. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read and the driver provided two breath samples, both were “fail” results. The driver was issued provincial impaired driving sanctions and his truck was impounded.
April 27
12:04 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Hwy 39 – Member located a speeding cargo van and conducted a traffic stop. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read and the driver provided two breath samples, both were “fail” results. The driver was issued provincial impaired driving sanctions and the van was impounded.
7:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that two larger dogs who were off leash tried attacking his smaller dogs. When asked to keep his dogs on leash the owner is alleged to have threatened to fight the complainant. The suspect was not located and the matter was forwarded to Drayton Valley Enforcement Services for follow-up.
1:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 490 – Reports received from third party complainant of a domestic situation, where a male had uttered death threats against his ex-wife. Further information had the male in attendance at a residence with a crow bar, apparently using the crow bar to enter the residence. Members attended and arrested an intoxicated male without incident. The male was held in cells on three charges and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace after a telephone bail hearing. Conditions are in place on the male and a court date is pending.
1:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported two males fighting on the street, though they had separated before police arrived. Member attended and found that one male had left the area and another had gone back inside a nearby residence. The homeowner advised it had been an argument with a tenant over unpaid rent. The male who had left the area was not located, possibly due to him having arrest warrants.
5:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an attempted shoplifting; a female had put items in her purse and tried to leave. Member attended and confirmed the female’s identity and advised her she was now banned from the store.
9:32 p.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a neighbour was screaming. Members attended and a male admitted to antagonizing dogs that had been howling. Members then had to attend twice more to tell the male to stop yelling and at one point when the male was back outside cackling at the neighbours, the opportunity was taken to place him under arrest. The male was held in cells until morning to prevent continuation.
April 28
1:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol noticed two vehicles with the hoods up; member queried the plates and one came back as stolen. The male driver, upon seeing police, quickly returned to the vehicle and fled at high speed. The female from the other vehicle claimed she had “no idea” who the male was. Under investigation.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male was shooting up drugs beside a business. Member attended and spoke to the male. No drugs were located and the male stated he was “prepping himself to fight Opioids” by “injecting himself and micro-dosing Narcan.” Member suggested some better options for addictions treatment.
3:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reported that sometime overnight tires and seats were stolen from an ATV. Under investigation.
5:15 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft from a lease site. Under investigation.
April 29
9:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reported cows loose on the road near Twp Rd 484. Member attended and confirmed the complainant’s beef. The owner of the cows was contacted and advised to mooove the cows back into pasture, udderwise he’d be getting a ticket under the Livestock Act.
9:12 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported cables cut on a lease site, but not stolen. Wires likely left behind as they were not copper. The complainant also reported similar issues at three other sites that has occurred over the past few days.
11:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members were leaving the Courthouse and noted black smoke to the west. Members advised the Fire Dept and located the source, which turned out to be a truck on a trailer in the area of the bottle depot. The truck on the trailer was salvage, but the fire also damaged the trailer and the truck pulling both. Cause of the fire was apparently an unsafe method of removing the fuel from the tank on the salvage truck.
2:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a physical dispute with the manager of the motel he is staying at. Complainant went to pay his rent and called the property owner when the manager was rude, and while on the phone got into a shoving match with the manager. The complainant was directed by the owner to report to police. Member spoke with the property manager who will be speaking to the motel manager about his behaviour. No charges, but it is unlikely a good review will be left by the complainant.
April 30
1:40 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a possibly stolen boat stashed on his property by a male who keeps trespassing and damaging things to access water. The male who had left the boat is also alleged to have made threats. Under investigation.
2:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Items that had been previously recovered by RCMP were returned to the rightful owner after it was determined where the items belonged.
May 1
11:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report her daughter having been assaulted by another student at school. Under investigation.
1:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Members received information that suspects were in possession of stolen property. Members conducted a traffic stop which lead to the recovery of the stolen item and one male being charged.
May 2
1:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported his truck stolen from the bar in the past few hours. Members located the truck nearby, locked and with minimal damage. Staff at the bar were unaware of the alleged theft. Under investigation but circumstances of the incident suggest some alternative events to what was reported.
