Recreation Board Bylaw 1175-24.
Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw 1175-24, which establishes a Drayton Valley-Brazeau County Recreation Board.
The Board will initiate and provide direction for sport, culture, and recreation programs as designated by the councils of the Town and the County, and is directly accountable to the councils. It will be made up of two County councillors, two Town councillors, and two members-at-large, one a Town resident and one a County resident.
The Board will make recommendations to the councils on the management and operation of the recreation and cultural facilities as agreed to by both the Town and County and as identified in the Recreation and Culture Cost-Sharing Agreement.
The Board is advisory and all recommendations must be approved by both councils in order to take effect.
Assessment Update.
Bob Daudelin and Ray Fortin of Accurate Assessment provided Council with the County’s 2023 Assessment Highlights.
In general, assessment rose across the county by about nine per cent between 2022 and 2023. There were 60 new roll numbers added to the property list, and 84 development permits issued. Seventy-five new wells were drilled in 2022.
Support for Drayton Valley Pro Rodeo.
Council approved in-kind support of $1,347.75 to supply and haul sand to the Drayton Valley Omniplex for the 9th Annual Drayton Valley Pro Rodeo, May 2-5, 2024.
Changes to agricultural policies.
Council approved changes to two agricultural policies, AG-2 Rental Equipment Policy and AG-4 Predator Control Policy, based on recommendations from the Agricultural Service Board.
Item 14 of the Rental Agreement has been amended to indicate valid insurance is required and may be requested, and that item H of the AG-2 Policy has been amended to include that the renter must have valid insurance.
