February 29
10:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – A Breton RCMP member was in the area and passing the COOP where an intoxicated male was found walking. The male was arrested to be held in cells until sober. The male was unsure of where he was. Circumstances were determined on next file.
11:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 491 – Members responded to a call from a male who didn’t know where he was other than he was at a locked gate and had busted a window to get into the building he was at. On arrival it was determined the male had been with the intoxicated male who was already in cells. Investigation determined that this male had taken his mother’s vehicle from Rocky Mountain House area, had been driving impaired and ended up stuck and unaware of his location. The car had been reported stolen as mom was unaware her son had taken it. The 17-year-old male was issued provincial impaired driving sanctions and the car was towed. His mother was advised by phone and picked up her son from cells once he had sobered up. She did not look happy with his choices.
March 1
1:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her grandson missing. Member advised her that he had been picked up at 10:23 pm after he was found intoxicated walking by the COOP. The complainant was happy he was safe and stated she would pick him up in the morning.
11:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member received information that a female youth may have been sexually assaulted by a former boyfriend. Under investigation.
7:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported a possible attempted child abduction from a hotel lobby. The complainant’s daughter reported a female grabbed her hand and tried to pull her, then left to a waiting taxi out front of the hotel. Member attended and viewed surveillance video which showed the female was trying to get around a group of kids to exit the lobby. Staff also confirmed the female had been staying at the hotel for the past month while working in the area. Complainant updated and was also shown the video for peace of mind.
7:49 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant requested assistance in leaving her residence due to a domestic situation. Member attended and then obtained a statement from the complainant at the detachment. File open for possible charges.
March 2
4:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Members responded to assist paramedics with a female reportedly overdosing in a homeless camp. Members located the female who was unresponsive and carried her out to the ambulance. Paramedics treated the female and transported her to hospital.
4:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 491 – Complainant reported a break and enter to a building on a lease site. Member determined this was related to the incident on Feb. 29th at 11:42 p.m.
6:01 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/RR 71 – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver, or maybe a domestic situation, after observing a grey minivan driving erratically and rocking back and forth. The complainant first saw the van at the south entrance to town, and last observed it heading east. Member unable to locate the van, information forwarded to Breton and Leduc RCMP.
8:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant called 911 for a parenting issue. Member attended and determined that the complainant was intoxicated and upset that her son who was possibly being bullied at school and was taking it out on her. Member determined that nothing criminal had occurred on this date. The son left to spend the night with his adult sister and referrals were made to CFS and also to the School Resource Officer due to the possible bullying issues at school.
10:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Member conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle due to snow obstructing the drivers view. Two roadside breath samples were obtained which lead to the driver being issued a 24-hour suspension.
March 3
8:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported losing his phone and then later checking its location which showed it was at the corner of 52 St and 53 Ave, a location with several apartment buildings adjacent. Complainant locked the phone. Under investigation.
March 4
7:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that she gave $60.00 to a male acquaintance at about 5:30 a.m. to go buy cigarettes, but he hadn’t returned. Member attended and advised the female that unfortunately this would be a civil issue and she needs to be more aware of who she gives money to. The complainant’s common-law husband then told the member he should go have sexual relations with himself (not the exact wording used) at which time the member left. All parties are known to police.
11:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a large golden coloured dog running loose. Member attended and dog whispered the dog into custody and transported it to the animal shelter.
1:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a sudden death, a male in his 40’s had been found deceased by family. Circumstances not suspicious but the Medical Examiner is investigating further.
March 5
8:31 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Complainant reported finding an ATV for sale on Facebook Marketplace that he believed is one he reported stolen in 2022. Members attended a residence and recovered the ATV which was confirmed as the one reported stolen.
3:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a male and female came in with a dog and were told the dog wasn’t allowed. The male was reportedly refusing to leave and being aggressive with staff. Member attended and found that the male had calmed down. He was told that he was required to listen to staff regardless of what may have been overlooked on previous visits. As per staff the pair were told not to return for 10 days with a warning that further issues could result in police throwing the book at them.
March 6
1:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a break and enter in progress at a lease site. Members attended and located a suspect vehicle in the area. A male passenger was arrested as he had warrants and issued a ticket for Trespassing. The involved lease site had been targeted the night before though members were unable at the time to prove the same suspects were involved in the earlier incident. Under investigation.
2:14 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Members located a known stolen vehicle in a driveway. The car had been reported stolen in Edmonton. Members seized and towed the car for a forensic examination. Under investigation, charges likely.
3:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported a possible domestic dispute after observing a vehicle stop and a female get out and started walking toward Violet Grove. The complainant spoke to the female who had a bleeding mouth but didn’t want police called. No license plate obtained, only a description of a dark pickup truck. Members conducted extensive patrols but did not locate the female or the truck.
3:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported tenants previously evicted had returned and could be seen on surveillance camera attempting to enter the residence. Members attended and found the pair who were wanting to remove their stuff. Members spoke to the complainant who said they could take items from the shed but beyond that they were advised to contact the landlord or risk being charged with break and enter.
10:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Members attended to a residence for a report of an elderly female found deceased. Nothing criminal involved, Medical Examiner contacted and not investigating further as the death was expected.
