December 21
11:53 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 St – Complainant reported that sometime on the night of December 18th a Load Trail flat deck trailer was stolen from a business yard. Under investigation.
12:04 a.m. – Rocky Rapids – 52 St – Complainant reported someone stole her registration and insurance on the 19th. Complainant didn’t realize they were gone until she got pulled over.
8:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – 911 call received with a female screaming. Members located the caller based on GPS from phone. A female youth was having a panic attack while Grandma drover her to a friend’s house. The youth wanted to go home, Grandma agreed to drive her there.
10:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Member on patrol stopped a vehicle travelling at 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The 17-year-old driver was issued a ticket with a mandatory court appearance and a Notice to Parent was served.
11:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Members on patrol by the Derrick Lounge were flagged down by people stating there was an intoxicated male in the female washroom and that he had been trying to fight people. The male was located in the washroom and staff advised he had already been kicked out earlier. The male was arrested and held in cells to sober up. The male also had a warrant out of Saskatchewan but that police agency declined to extend the radius to Alberta.
December 22
8:18 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported a truck driving erratically and at excessive speed, headed west. Truck not located, and only a partial company name was provided, which turns out to be a very common name.
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with a cheque he received in the mail for $10,000 from a hotel in another province and mailed to him from the US. Complainant suspected it was a fraud, which it undoubtedly is. Under investigation.
12:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a make known to have a warrant. During search incidental to arrest a stolen bank card was located. The male was charged accordingly for possessing the stolen bank card and issued an appearance notice, but held in custody due to the outstanding traffic fines.
3:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported she and her mother were driving in the laneway behind the town office when a homeless male threw water into the vehicle’s window getting her mother wet. The complainant stopped to confront the male who advanced toward the vehicle; the complainant pushed him off and drove away. Complainant didn’t want charges but asked that the male be spoken to. Members investigated and obtained a possible suspect identification but the male wasn’t located at the time.
7:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported that a male was in a business bathroom and wouldn’t leave. The male had been in the bathroom for 40 minutes. Member attended and removed the male from the bathroom after ensuring he had properly washed his hands.
11:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male in a pub, refusing to pay his bill and trying to drink from his own bottle of Vodka. Complainant not concerned about the bill, just wanted the male out. Members attended and the known male left and was told not to return.
December 23
8:22 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant inquired about a possible fraudulent sale of hay. Member looked over the details and the alleged company involved and advised it appeared to be a fraud. Complainant not out any money as no payment ever made.
11:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members were dispatched to a break and enter in progress at a residence. Complainant provided descriptors and the suspects name as she had seen him on video surveillance. A male was initially detained but it was quickly determined he was at his own residence. Investigation continued which lead to the female complainant being charged with Public Mischief and given a Court date in the new year.
8:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Member on patrol observed a flat deck trailer with about 20 people on board, riding on haybales. Many were around the outer edge and there were no railings to prevent people falling off. Member conducted a traffic stop and advised the driver of the obvious safety concerns and arranged to follow the unit back to it’s parking spot to ensure safety. Member followed the truck and trailer at slow speed back across town to a parking location on Madsen Ave. During this encounter open alcohol was observed, and at one point an adult was walking on the moving trailer while holding a small child. Once the unit was parked the Officer used discretion and only issued one ticket.
December 24
9:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Member on patrol noticed a Seacan open in a fenced compound. Member investigated and found a small rear gate insecure and the lock cut off the Seacan. A property representative was contacted to come secure the Seacan. It did not appear that anything was missing from the yard or Seacan.
3:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant from previous file reported that his son had called him and made threats to harm him. The complainant wanted charges laid. Members patrolled at the time but didn’t locate the suspect. The suspect was arrested at another location later in the evening and held for a telephone bail hearing.
10:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a known male was outside her restaurant being aggressive to staff and patrons. Members made patrols and eventually located the male, after yet another call, yelling at no one in the fire hall parking lot. Members arrested the male on charges of uttering threats related to the report made at 3 p.m.
11:14 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members dispatched to a hang-up 911 call, with a very large possible GPS radius. Members were unable to locate the source of the call and the original caller didn’t pickup on call back.
11:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Center Court – Complainant reported a known male trying to enter a residence she was staying at. Members attended but the male had left. The male was subsequently located and arrested by the fire hall. See report from 10:01 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 12:54 p.m.
December 25
1:23 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 82 – 911 call received regarding an aggressive, intoxicated female. The complainant then updated the circumstances and said police weren’t required. Members tried to call back but got no answer, so attended the residence. Members determined there had been some type of family dispute and located the homeowner’s adult daughter and boyfriend sleeping in an animal shelter in the yard. Members provided the daughter and boyfriend a ride to town to an alternate residence, amidst protest from the homeowner who continued being difficult. The file remains open as an assault may have occurred. This file is related to the call at 11:14 p.m. Alcohol appeared to have been a factor.
6:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported two people trespassing, sliding under his trailer. Issues happening every night and things are being stolen. Members are aware that the complainant has some mental health issues and a referral to RPACT has already been made.
4:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620/Elk River Rd area – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle on the side of the road, possibly impaired or vehicle breakdown. Members attended and located four persons. The vehicle was registered and insured, but had broken down. No one on scene had a valid license and alcohol was present, but as the car had been there for at least an hour, members were unable to determine who had been driving. One male was transported to cells to sober up, another was charged with breaching prior release conditions and held to sober up and the other two occupants were ensured safe transport from the scene. The car was towed as it had mechanical issues and wouldn’t start.
10:49 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported two trucks entered her lower farm yard, did a few donuts and left. Members patrolled the area but didn’t locate the two trucks or drivers. The complainant’s son provided names of two suspects who he believes have some issue with him or his girlfriend. The son provided another location where he had seen the trucks, members checked there but they were gone.
December 26
2:19 a.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant called from a friend’s residence reporting she had been assaulted by her now ex boyfriend. Members investigated and a male was arrested and charged and held for a telephone bail hearing. The male was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace with conditions and a court date in the new year.
3:50 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported finding a door glass broken at a business, appeared to be an attempted break and enter but entry wasn’t gained. Member attended, door glass broken but no entry gained and premise secure elsewhere. Under investigation.
1:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that two suspects were back on his property and had turned off the power to his trailer. The suspects have infrared and are able to get away. Member aware of an extensive history of mental health issues with the complainant and that the suspects mentioned to not exist. RPACT referral made.
7:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Complainant reported some youth had a fire on a picnic table at the Skate Park. Members attended, fire was extinguished by fire department; some alcohol was disposed and all parents were contacted to come and retrieve their children so they could discuss how to make appropriate choices.
8:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – RR 73 – Complainant reported two trucks stunting in the parking lot of HW Pickup School, complainant also reported this had been an issue for the past week. Member attended and located one truck that wasn’t stunting at the time. The 17-year-old driver was warned and provided some guidance on how to avoid a $567 ticket in the future.
8:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a heavy-set male in his 50’s had attended his daughters’ residence and was standing at the door calling her name. The complainant’s daughter did not know the male, who left on foot. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate the male, likely due to a delay in reporting.
December 27
10:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Anonymous complainant reported a wanted male was behind the library. Members attended but the male was not located. This is just another chapter in the male’s issues with the law.
8:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a wanted male in the bar (same male reported at 10:13 am). Members attended and determined the male had left, but he was located and arrested nearby on outstanding warrants from Edmonton. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace. And now the book is closed, or at least until he fails to attend court again.
8:45 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that he met a “woman” online who was now trying to extort money from him on the threat of sending explicit videos to his family. The complainant was given some guidance on how to proceed, including to not send intimate pictures in the future. The suspect appeared to be from the USA.
9:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – While members were locating the wanted male reported twice earlier, they located a known female who was on conditions to not be with the male. A 25-year-old female was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing due to an extensive history of failing to comply and failing to appear in Court charges. The female was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court in the new year.
