Evansburg RCMP are investigating some recent break and enters.
On July 15, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Evansburg RCMP responded to a report of a male breaking into a house in the Southview area of Lac Saint Anne, Alta. Mounties say the male was reported to have a weapon and was allegedly making threats to all those around him.
Evansburg RCMP, along with the assistance of Mayerthorpe RCMP, attended the residence immediately and located the male still at the scene. The male was subsequently arrested. Police located a large machete knife, and noted that tens of thousands of dollars in damage had been done to the house.
Winnard Raymon Campbell, a 48-year-old man from the area, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences in relation to the event:
- Break and Enter
- Mischief (X4)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
- Uttering threats (X6)
Mounties say Campbell remains in custody and his next court date set for Aug. 14, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg.
On July 17, 2023, RCMP received a report that the suspect’s home was broken into and damage done therein. Initial investigation indicates the suspects home was damaged as retaliation to the earlier events.
While RCMP investigate this newest report, Mounties caution individuals about vigilantism.
