Following successful negotiations, the Town of Drayton Valley and the Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce that a multi-year agreement has been signed.
Officials say the Town of Drayton Valley is excited to continue its long-standing partnership with the local AJHL hockey team and looks forward to watching the team compete in the community.
“I’m thrilled that the Thunder will continue to play in our facility,” says Mayor Nancy Dodds. “We are fortunate to have such an exceptional and exciting hockey team in our hometown, and I’m so pleased that a successful agreement was met.”
“The Drayton Valley Thunder joined with Mayor Nancy Dodds in announcing the extension of our agreement as tenants of the Omniplex” comments Drayton Valley Thunder owner, Leighton Grey. “We are in the midst of exciting changes aimed at improving our hockey club, fan enjoyment, and community engagement. We look forward to partnering with local stakeholders and corporate sponsors to help us face the many challenges of competing in the AJHL. We are committed to making the team a success going forward through the joint efforts of the entire Drayton Valley Community. We are excited to partner with you in this great endeavour.”
The Town says it has been supportive of Drayton Valley’s AJHL hockey team since being established in 1998. Additionally, the Town recognizes the benefits the team and its players have brought to Drayton Valley over the last 25 years, including its various volunteer efforts, local economic spin-off and positive role model positions that support the next generation through their annual kid’s camp, and the Jr. Thunder Kids Club.
