Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. September 8
3:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Unknown location – Complainant reported fraudulent ad for a motorcycle. Complainant had sent $300 deposit to a male, now believes it is a scam. Member was unable to locate the complainant due to him having a generic name and not providing a valid phone number. This matter is also under investigation in Saskatchewan, where the alleged scammer resides.
9:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol stopped a vehicle that was driving without lights on. The member obtained a mandatory alcohol screening which resulted in a “caution” result, followed by a “59.” As the driver had a graduated license with a “no alcohol” condition, she was issued a 30 day suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
September 9
12:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – West Valley Lions Park – Member on patrol noticed an older Cadillac in poor condition parked near the Omniplex with a non-matching plate and three people asleep inside. Investigation found that two occupants had multiple outstanding warrants from Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer. The 32-year-old driver was issued several traffic tickets, arrested and held for a bail hearing and the car was towed as it was uninsured. The female passenger was arrested on her warrants, held for a hearing and charged for Failing to Comply and Obstructing a Peace Officer (providing a fake name). Both the male and female were remanded into custody.
1:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Weyerhauser mill – Complainant reported his wallet and wife’s purse were stolen from their truck overnight, possibly while he was at work. Member attended the mill and viewed surveillance, which did show a male rummaging through vehicles. Under investigation.
1:49 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 near grazing reserve – Complainant reported cattle on the highway. The member, who is an urban Ontario transplant, attended the scene and was able to return the cattle safely to fenced pasture. Other members avoided him for the remainder of the shift while he worked on his John Wayne impression and made terrible cow jokes.
10:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported noise from a residence nearby. Members attended and located the source, some ladies socializing before a baseball tournament. The homeowner advised they were just wrapping up and apologized. The attending members felt they handled it so well, it was as if they knocked it out of the park.
September 10
9:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported possible harassment after having a verbal altercation with another female outside the bar. Female A reported that female B had been yelling at her outside the bar; female A requested police tell female B to stop. Members then spoke to female B who said female A had been outside her home yelling at her. Members advised both “ladies” to stop communicating with each other.
September 11
1:08 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Report of a break and enter to a lease site. Occurred sometime within the past month. Extensive damage.
6:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol was flagged down by an individual reporting that a silver Dodge Ram had hit a light pole on the north side of the parking lot. Member attended and spoke with the driver of the truck who had just finished work. Did not see pole. No injuries.
September 12
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Individual attended the detachment to report their MasterCard stolen and used.
2:57 p.m. – Brazeau County – Individual attended the detachment to report individual pointed a firearm at them while they were on their property. When confronted individual apologized as they were out hunting coyotes.
3:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting they observed an individual enter their vehicle and place a package on the seat. Members attended, individual not located. Matter is under investigation.
September 13
12:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Pleasantview Trailer Court – Report received of a break and enter to property in which tenants had been evicted the night before. Members attended, no parties were inside the residence, all were outside gathering their belongings.
4:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Bylaw officer requesting assistance with serving a notice to an individual who is being banned from the shelter pods for 30 days. Members attended location and assisted in serving individual.
4:48 p.m. – Lodgepole – Report of two individuals on an ATV driving around the Lodgepole Campground. The campground is closed and recent renovations done. Complainant is worried that they will damage the area. Members attended and located the ATV. Traffic stop attempted, ATV took off on members.
7:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Report of a suspicious phone call received from a local restaurant. Likely a scam in which individuals use an internet number to replicate existing phone numbers.
September 14
9:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Highway 22 – Police were dispatched to a call of a burgundy sports car passing on the solid lines and driving excessively fast on Highway 22 towards Drayton Valley. Complainant provided the license plate of the sports car. Members patrolled the area and located the car, a red Chevrolet Camaro. Members are familiar with this vehicle. Vehicle stopped and driver issued a drive carelessly ticket.
10:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Pleasantview Mobile Home Park – Members observed a known property crime individual driving a truck while his license is suspended and he is on court conditions not to be behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Members attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle but it fled through fields behind H.W Pickup. Members then located the truck again, but it fled a second time. Members located the male later in the day hiding in a shed. Male arrested and charged with nine offences including Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, Drive while suspended and breaching his court release order.
6:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – Brazeau Dam – Complainant called police to advise that his Seadoo and Seadoo trailer were stolen while it was attached to his truck. Investigation is continuing.
8:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Jubilee Avenue – Members called about a suspicious male hiding in the bushes wearing a short sleeved red shirt and baggy shorts. Members attended and walked through the trees looking for the male but he had moved on or is really good at hide and seek.
9:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members received a call of a missing traveler. Caller’s husband was driving from Grande Prairie to Sylvan Lake. Caller has last heard from him at 7:00 p.m. and he said he was about 90 min from home. While members were beginning their investigation the caller called back to advise she had heard from her husband and he was currently fine, though he may be less fine when he walks through her door.
