Planning work is well underway for a new K-12 school in Evansburg.
Chloe Carr, Infrastructure Minister with the Alberta government says school projects bring new life to Alberta’s neighborhoods, supporting jobs in construction and the trades, while offering parents more choice to let their children be educated closer to home.
“Currently, the Evansburg school project is in the design stage. The project was approved by the 2021 Capital Plan, and is primarily being funded by Alberta’s government. At this point, it is too early to determine the duration of the project. However, Alberta Infrastructure anticipates construction services to be tendered in early 2023. The schedule will be determined after the contract has been awarded.”
Evansburg is part of the Grande Yellowhead School Division. Officials say the school is anticipated to have a student capacity of 515 students and is estimated to cost $25 million dollars.
