Brazeau County is helping a rodeo queen take things to the next level.
At County council’s June 21 meeting, council approved a $1000 Youth Sport Grant to Tawnie Thompson.
Thompson was crowned Miss Alberta High School Rodeo Queen in 2021, and again for 2022. The grant is to help send her down to Wyoming to compete in the Rodeo Queen component in the National High School Rodeo Finals.
Even though she is still in high school, Thompson is already a rodeo veteran. Thompson has been competing in rodeos since the age of four, with barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying being her events.
