Brazeau County has passed its final budget for 2022.
The budget was passed at their April 4, 2022 council meeting.
In a statement, the County says the balanced budget maintains their years-long tax freeze on municipal taxes. For the seventh year in a row, the County is offering a 30 per cent rebate for commercial businesses. For the third year in a row, they are extending that rebate to residential and farmland properties.
The budget also includes a $9.9 million investment in County infrastructure. Some of the bigger projects are the installation of a boat launch at the Berrymoor campground, improvements to the ball diamonds at the Brazeau Sports Park and to the Lodgepole campground, and improvements to Township Road 485 which will allow access to the horse trails.
The County reports that, even after the infrastructure investments and tax rebates, there remains $13.6 million in reserves.
In a statement, County Reeve Bart Guyon says the County has a winning formula, and they are sticking to it.
“As we have in the last several years, we are combining low taxes and fees with high levels of services, and investment in our people and infrastructure,” explains Guyon. “This formula has attracted people and investment in our County, and we want to keep that success going.”
The budget is available for review at the Brazeau County website.
