Brazeau County is showing its support for Ukraine.
At County council’s March 22 meeting, council directed administration to create a fundraising opportunity for Ukraine. The donations are to go to appropriate organizations. Once the fundraiser has been created, the County will be getting the word out on its website, Facebook page, and Twitter page.
In addition, since March 17, the flag of Ukraine has been flying above the County administration building.
The Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire Services were working hard in 2021.
At Brazeau County council’s March 22 meeting, fire chief Tom Thomson was on hand to deliver year-end statistics for the fire services.
In 2021, fire services responded to a total of 402 calls. 186 were in Brazeau County, 177 in Drayton Valley, and 39 on provincial lands or highways.
Of the 186 calls in the County, 61 were fire calls, 21 were motor vehicle collisions, nine were rescue calls, 36 were alarm calls, 40 were calls for assistance from other agencies, and 19 miscellaneous calls.
Thomson also shared the statistics for January 2022. There were 16 calls in January: four fire calls, four motor vehicle collisions, three alarm calls, and four calls for assistance from other agencies.
Brazeau County is supporting local skaters.
At Brazeau County council’s March 22 meeting, council approved a request for funding from the Drayton Valley Skating Club. The County will be chipping in $1000 for their Carnival.
Council will also be reviewing their FIN-7 Community Funding Policy at the May 3 council meeting.
