The people of Drayton Valley are going to have to go back to getting their criminal record checks in person.
For the past six months, the Drayton Valley RCMP has been one of 12 RCMP detachments in Alberta testing out a new service to let people get their criminal record checks online.
Alberta RCMP has announced they will be ending the pilot project on Mar. 6, 2022. According to the RCMP, the platform they used became a complex undertaking for the 12 participating detachments, and could not have been efficiently expanded to the entire province. They go on to say that there were key points of learning during the six month project, and that those lessons will prove useful in the future to develop a more user-friendly platform.
Other detachments participating in the project included Grande Prairie, St. Albert, Drumheller, and Sylvan Lake.
