A new campaign has been launched to shine a national spotlight on Drayton Valley and Brazeau County.
This is Drayton Valley is a joint project between the Town of Drayton Valley, Brazeau County, the Drayton Valley Community Foundation (DVCF), The Drayton Valley Hospitality and Tourism Authority, and Travel Alberta
DVCF board chair Rob Mulligan tells us the entire campaign is to help lure tourists and new residents to the region.
“We are targeting areas in Ontario and British Columbia and Atlantic Canada basically saying, ‘If you do not want to live in a million dollar condo in downtown Toronto, why not come to Drayton Valley, where your dollar stretches further and you can be a part of a community?’” explains Mulligan.
The multifaceted campaign kicked off with their website, www.thisisdraytonvalley.com, which Mulligan describes as an “amenities hub.” Rather than supplant the websites for local organizations, it hopes to compliment them.
“This is intended to be that one stop where they can go in, get a snapshot of everything that Drayton Valley has to offer, and then, if they want to do more research, just have them directed off to those other people’s websites,” clarifies Mulligan.
The initiative will also be producing a series of videos for social media to promote the region. The first one is on the website now, and focuses a lot of the recreational opportunities in Brazeau County. Mulligan predicts the County and its hundreds of thousands of Crown acres will be a key draw.
“It really is that recreation point, where it is the hiking and the canoeing and the skidooing, and everything you can do in the Brazeau Country region,” says Mulligan.
Before the winter is done, and if the snow stays on the ground, they hope to film a second video showcasing the winter recreation opportunities in the region.
