Drayton Valley RCMP have a known local drug trafficker in custody after the trafficker was found with almost 200 grams of illicit drugs.
RCMP tells us that on Jan. 12, 2022, they were conducting an investigation into Logan Merle Bruner, a known local drug trafficker and property crime offender. Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section observed Bruner and a wanted female in a suspicious pickup truck in Drayton Valley.
As these two were known to flee from police when confronted, RCMP share that they conducted surveillance until Bruner and the female pulled into a parking lot on 53 Avenue in Drayton Valley. When they exited their vehicle, they were approached by several members from the Drayton Valley RCMP and the Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section.
According to RCMP, Bruner was carrying a black plastic bag and tried to throw it away when the police approached him. Bruner and the female were taken into custody. The bag was located and found to contain 147 grams of methamphetamine, 39 grams of cocaine, and 26 grams of fentanyl. A search of the truck found weapons and a number of tools that were identified as being stolen from a break and enter in Parkland County.
Bruner has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, seven counts of failing to comply with court orders, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
In addition, Bruner was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon stemming from an incident on Dec. 22, 2021 in Drayton Valley. A member of the public was bear sprayed as he tried to Bruner nd a second male from stealing his vehicle.
Bruner was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing on these matters. Bruner was denied bail and remanded in to custody. His next schedule court appearance is Feb. 1, 2022 in Drayton Valley.
The female with Bruner was Kristy Lee Knapp of Parkland County. Knapp was arrested on outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions including Drayton Valley, Parkland, Barrhead, and Breton Detachments. Knapp was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was released by a Justice of the Peace on $1000 cash bail.
