Bernie Schell - Trinity Funeral Home
The Town of Drayton Valley is taking time to pay tribute to a long time Drayton Valley resident and business owner well known for his volunteer work in the community.
Bernie Schell served on the boards of many community organizations and Town committees, including the Mayor’s Advisory Committee and the Doctor Recruitment Program.
Schell was honoured by Drayton Valley town council in October 2020, when he stepped down from the Doctor Recruitment Program.
At that time, Councillor Tom McGee praised Schell for all he had done.
“I recall a point that you made, and you probably make it regularly, that there are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the right side,” said McGee.
In a statement on the Town’s Facebook page, the Town of Drayton Valley describes Schell as a pillar of the community who helped shape Drayton Valley as it is known today.
“His contributions to the community were many and he will be remembered as a passionate man who was devoted to his lovely family and his community,” said the Town.
Schell passed away on Jan. 8, 2022 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Louise, his three children, and his six grandchildren.
